Job Description

:

In line with the Group's vision of being a Sustainability leader in ASEAN, the incumbent will be responsible to support the development and implementation of Group-wide climate risk management. He/She will work together with Group Sustainability and be at the forefront of the responsible banking regulatory and standards development, and apply the knowledge to:

• implement and execute CIMB's strategies and initiatives to assess and manage climate risks at portfolio and transaction level
• support initiatives to ensure CIMB's compliance with most up to date regulatory & standard requirements related to climate risk
• support initiatives to strengthen sustainability accountability and contribute towards an effective sustainability risk line of defense
• work to incorporate environmental, social and governance considerations into risk management decisions, and support Group Sustainability to upskill relevant teams within Group Risk

1. Climate Risk Strategy and Planning

• Work closely with Group Sustainability to develop overall climate strategy (i.e. CIMB's Net Zero 2050 Strategy)
• Drive climate risk related efforts across CIMB, including climate risk appetite and target setting as well as development of action plans to integrate climate risk throughout the Group's business, with a focus on Scope 3 financed emissions
• Spearhead the implementation of action plans towards meeting the Group's climate aspirations and delivering the desired outcomes from the risk perspective
• Oversee CIMB's climate performance against targets set and ensure timely update on progress of climate matters to relevant management and board committees (e.g. Risk Exco, GSC, GEXCO, GTC, BRCC, GSGC, Board)

2. Climate Risk Assessment & Management

• Establish the transmission channels linking climate risk drivers to financial/non-financial risks (e.g. credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, operational risk)
• Lead assessment of CIMB's exposure to climate-related risks and identify hotspots for targeted management, with a focus on financed emissions across all business units, and working closely with Group Sustainability on operational emissions
• Strategise the process required to assess and quantify combined financial impacts of climate-related risks and their impact to CIMB and ensure the impacts are accounted for when developing/revising corporate/business strategy to ensure resilience over the short, medium to long term.

3. Climate Scenario Analysis & Stress Testing

• Execute climate scenario analysis and climate stress testing
• Work closely with Group Sustainability and Business Units to model climate risk at the sector and client level, with the objective of shifting CIMB's financed emissions towards the Net Zero 2050 target
• Support BU engagements with customers and counterparties to develop a better understanding of their exposures to climate-related risks, track record, as well as their commitment and transition strategies in managing these risks

5. Regulatory & Voluntary Compliance

• Work closely with Group Sustainability to ensure regulatory reporting (e.g. CCPT classification) is fulfilled in a timely and complete manner

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Support communication with BNM on climate risk matters including responding to public consultation on climate-related guidance documents/reference guides, and conducting gaps analysis
• Support the coordination of targeted advocacy and engagements with external subject matter experts
• Produce climate disclosures in alignment with the TCFD, CCCA/NZBA DJSI, CDP and other relevant frameworks or guidelines
