Market Access Executive

Location: Malaysia

The role is to support market access strategies & tactical plans, and support/consolidate efforts of the Pharmaceutical business sectors to improve access to innovative medicines. Specifically, they will provide technical capabilities combined with strategic insights from the field to develop solutions including reimbursement market analysis, for internal/external partners. This improves strategic and tactical focus for products in both the private and public healthcare sectors.

Key activities will include assisting and supporting formulary listing, tender listing, implement research projects, and/or government decision makers to understand disease burden, providing support to the commercial business Teams on engaging external partners with issues/agenda related to access of J&J products, formulary listing, crafting and implementing support or patient access programs and potential tender proposals. Additionally, this position will support commercial teams to ensure pricing strategies for new products are aligned among regional, and global teams and promote and share shown practices among the affiliates.

The role will have a strong commercial focus as well and will offer the opportunity for a motivated professional to sharpen their commercial acuity, negotiation skills and build the network with internal and external partners to drive visible long-term outcomes for the enterprise.

This role will require strong technical abilities, the ability to multitask and collaborate with colleagues from various backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in close cooperation with various internal partners, teams specifically country level business sectors, Regional Market Access and health economics/outcomes research teams
  • Assist and support related Health Economics needs for the listing of innovative Pharmaceutical Products into Government and hospital formularies in accordance to business priorities.
  • Facilitate improved patient access in the self-pay (private healthcare sector) segment by developing and implementing alternative financing models
  • Provide tactical and technical support at the country level for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) reviews and market access related issue management during the entire product lifecycle.
  • Assist in all the listing processes related to Government Formulary.
  • Assist in the execution of market access projects decided by multifunctional Brand Teams. Maintain and improve product value propositions, dossiers and encouraging evidence after launch. Apply proven methodologies across the region.
  • Participate and provide insights on value creation of innovation at pre- & post Launch planning & discussions with respective business units.
  • Develop and maintains all identified external in country partners to ensure all plans are well implemented.
  • Engage in health policy and access related matters impacting patient access and business outcomes
  • Other duties and projects as assigned to the Market Access functional team.
Key Requirements
Prior experience in Market Access gained at a pharmaceutical/biotechnology or HTA/Payer body is preferred. Proven successes engaging with Internal partners - including marketing, medical affairs and other teams. Has built external engagements - including payers, HTA bodies, local healthcare specialists and related partners (possesses an established network of payer contacts and key opinion leaders). Can inspire change effectively within the organization and translate strategic insights into practical, well-grounded initiatives. Demonstrated leadership, networking, active listening and influencing skills. Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams at all levels and responsibilities. Must be capable of leading cross-functional teams to produce and develop high-quality results according to timelines.

Qualifications Desired
  • Degree in Health Sciences
  • Degree or qualifications in Health Economics or related field is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Proficient English. Mastering multiple languages would be an advantage.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
