The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the continuous improvement and optimization of existing mechanical modules to enhance product reliability, reduce costs, and simplify manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance processes.
Role involves implementing design changes, qualifying component replacements, and ensuring compliance with safety and international machine product standards.
Mechanical Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams--including electronics and software--to meet project objectives, support production and customers, and drive continuous improvement within the automation and equipment industries.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and enhance existing modules to increase reliability, lower costs, and ease manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.
Investigate and evaluate engineering change requests and implement design modifications aimed at cost reduction and functional improvement.
Identify, qualify, and validate suitable replacements for end-of-life components.
Apply design-to-cost principles in all aspects of work while ensuring compliance with safety and international product standards.
Create and maintain 3D models, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and 2D drawings in accordance with established design rules and standards.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (electronics, software, and supply chain) to achieve project goals.
Provide timely and effective support to production and respond promptly to customer related technical issues.
Utilize 3D CAD software (e.g., ProEngineer/Creo) and PDM/PLM tools (such as PTC Windchill or Agile) to manage and document design activities.
Ensure designs consider manufacturing cost drivers and assembly requirements for complex mechatronic systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, applying strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
Travel occasionally (up to 20%) for on-site technical support as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3-5 years relevant experience in automation / equipment industries.
Significant practical experience in mechanical engineering, assembly and testing.
EXPERTISE AND METHODOLOGY
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. ProEngineer/Creo).
Experience with PDM/PLM software (PTC Windchill or Agile).
Proven problem solving skills.
Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
Understanding of cost drivers within manufacturing and across the supply chain.
Good knowledge of mechanical parts evaluation and qualification.
Understanding of assembly procedures of complex mechatronic systems.
