A Middleware Specialist or Administrator is responsible for the implementation, management, and optimization of middleware software that enables communication between different applications and systems. This role is critical for ensuring seamless data flow, system reliability, and integration across enterprise IT environments.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
Perform regular upgrades and patches to ensure optimal functionality
Tune systems for performance and scalability
Security & Compliance
Implement security protocols and ensure compliance with IT policies
Track and remediate vulnerabilities
Maintain disaster recovery plans and perform regular backups
Collaboration & Support
Work with cross-functional IT teams to support development, testing, and production environments
Provide technical support and training to other staff
Document middleware configurations and processes
Integration & Automation
Develop and manage API integrations and queuing systems
Drive automation through monitoring tools and scripting
Support DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
Experience with middleware technologies (e.g., IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion, Apache Kafka)
Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows environments
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Familiarity with software development methodologies and SDLC
Scripting skills (Shell, Python) and system monitoring tools
