PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Take a leadership role in overseeing the entire laboratory structure of Natural Resources Malaysia, with emphasis on the management and technical advisory of the laboratories.
  • Establish the strategy and planning to lead the laboratories in achieving greater efficiency, productivity and targeted test scope.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of laboratory services in meeting the customers\xe2\x80\x99 requirement and local authority compliance.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
  • Keep updated on industry & SGS best practices with regards to the use of appropriate analytical methods for the commodities serviced
  • Manage addition of new commercial laboratory capabilities-whether equipment expansions or test method additions, to enable expansions into new market segments.
  • Provide technical and, management supervision to all the laboratories operations to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of test to meet turnaround time requirements without compromising test result in term of the accuracy
  • Coach, mentor and develop local staff, as well as motivate/drive the laboratory team on the assigned test methods/ procedures. Building future leaders according to the company\xe2\x80\x99s succession plan.
  • Ensure effective implementations and maintenance of MS ISO/IEC 17025 as well as NR Group Quality systems in all laboratories.
  • Support Business Leaders at the onsite laboratories within the given timeframe and work closely with the leaders at the onsite laboratories to ensure efficient operations from scoping through setup and the full operations stage
  • Implement and ensure maximum value is derived from SLIM systems.
  • Liaison with leaders of each laboratory to review the internal process of the laboratories to ensure all the standard methods are up to date or latest version.
  • Develop and maintain an effective framework and internal control to control and ensure the confidentiality of the internal quality procedures, test methods and documents from both clients and internal sources
  • Establish, audit and review the internal control of the laboratories to ensure all analytical equipment, apparatus etc are to appropriately maintains and calibrated as per required schedule.
  • Review Laboratory operations plans and procedure to redress adverse variance in activity and maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure Operational Integrity requirement are met.
  • Adhere and operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity and local HR policies
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management
Qualifications

PROFILE
  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years related experience, with 5 years at the leadership level in managing and leading laboratory operations
  • Proven track records of successful setup or expansions in Minerals laboratories
  • Proficient in MS ISO/IES 17025 and SAMM Policies requirement
  • Experienced in leading with technical personnel and managing various levels of stakeholders in MNC environment
  • Willing to travel nationwide in providing technical and operational support to the onsite laboratories in Malaysia.

  • Strategic thinker with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good team spirit with ability to work independently in meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to initiate improvement on the established business and challenge today\xe2\x80\x99s practices and bring the necessary support to your stakeholders.
Additional Information
  • The incumbent must be based in Seksyen 22, Shah Alam
  • Able to work on hybrid model.
