The Opportunity In this role, you will be entrusted to provide leadership direction for our fast growing Joint Replacement/MAKO division in Malaysia. You will be fully involved in formulating strategies and plans that take both short and long term goals into consideration, delivering the financial objectives for the assigned franchise in Malaysia. You will have the empowerment to lead the sales and clinical team under the Joint Replacement /MAKO division - attracting, engaging and developing talents to build a high performing team, ensuring that Stryker remains the market leader in the assigned franchise. Commercial Leadership:
  • Provide leadership direction to JR/MAKO sales team to deliver country top/bottom line. Improve efficiency and profitability through activities such as budget management, cost saving, forecasting, inventory management, CER etc.
  • Create and maintain a network of cooperative relationships with business partners and key customers for business growth.
  • Management of distributors, third party agents & go-to-market model.
  • Create business synergy across different business units.
  • Develop business cases for JR franchise to support growth plan.
  • Work in partnership with Product Manager & MAKO Commercial Manager on marketing execution plan & product registration.
  • Input into JR market insights to leverage for business management.
  • Responsible for JR pricing strategy, OEM product bundling, and quarterly sales campaigns.
  • Work in collaboration with cross-functional leaders to improve efficiency on JR related operations - i.e bumi agent selection, 4PL management, margin negotiation, CAPA & KPI etc.
  • Possible requirement to cover surgical case support.
  • Uphold the Compliance culture and philosophy of the Company by ensuring the business is kept abreast and aligned with the highest code of ethics.
People Leadership:
  • Provide effective and strategic people management, ability to influence other functional teams e.g. Marketing, Medical Education, Operations, RAQA etc. without direct reporting line authority.
  • Enhance sales capabilities through talent development plan including product, clinical, soft skills training etc.
  • Identify and groom key employees as part of effective succession planning.
  • People performance management process - providing coaching, constructive feedback and support to deliver strong performance and individual development within the team.
  • Be involved in the recruitment and staffing process of the team.
The Successful Profile
  • Minimum 10 years of Sales experience in medical device industry. Candidates who also possess Marketing experience have a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in multinational medical device company preferred.
  • People leadership experience in a Commercial/Sales Manager capacity is required.
  • Previous Orthopedic exposure or knowledge would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good business acumen.
