The Operations General Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall day-to-day operations of cafe outlets to ensure operational excellence, financial discipline, people effectiveness, and compliance with company standards.
This role requires strong hands-on operational leadership combined with sound financial understanding, including the ability to read and analyze Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, manage food and labour costing, and drive outlet performance. The Operations Manager works closely with senior management, HR, Finance, and outlet teams to ensure sustainable business performance in a fast-paced modern cafe environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Operational Management
Oversee daily operations of assigned cafe outlets to ensure smooth, efficient, and consistent execution
Ensure full compliance with company SOPs, service standards, food quality, hygiene, and safety requirements
Conduct regular outlet visits, audits, and performance reviews
Identify operational gaps, risks, and inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions
Manage and resolve operational issues, escalations, and service recovery matters professionally
B. Financial Management & Cost Control
Read, understand, analyze, and explain
P&L statements
at outlet and group level
Monitor and control
food cost, labour cost, and operating expenses
in line with approved targets and budgets
Work closely with Finance and Procurement on pricing, margin improvement, and cost optimisation initiatives
Identify cost leakage and implement corrective actions without compromising service quality or brand standards
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reviews
C. People & Performance Management
Lead, coach, and develop outlet managers, supervisors, and key operational staff
Work closely with the HR Department to ensure proper manpower planning, including recruitment needs, staffing levels, and workforce optimisation
Collaborate with HR on rostering, productivity control, and labour cost management, ensuring optimal manpower utilisation
Drive staff performance, discipline, and engagement in line with company policies, values, and culture
Support HR-led initiatives on recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and staff development
Provide operational input to HR on training needs, performance gaps, and succession planning
D. Sales & Business Performance
Drive outlet sales performance through operational excellence and effective execution of business initiatives
Analyze sales trends, menu performance, and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities
Support and execute marketing campaigns, promotions, and new product rollouts
Collaborate with management on outlet expansion, improvement plans, and business growth initiatives
E. Compliance, Food Safety & Governance
Ensure strict compliance with halal requirements, food safety standards, and hygiene regulations
Ensure outlets comply with local authorities' requirements and internal audit standards
Prepare outlets for inspections, audits, and certification renewals
Address non-compliance issues promptly and implement preventive measures
F. Reporting & Management Communication
Prepare and submit regular operational, financial, and performance reports to management
Track KPIs, identify trends, and recommend corrective or improvement actions
Ensure timely execution of management directives and initiatives
Act as the key liaison between outlet operations and management
Requirements
Minimum
5-7 years
experience in F&B operations, preferably in a
fast-paced modern cafe or restaurant environment
At least
2-3 years in a managerial or multi-outlet leadership role
Strong understanding of
P&L, food costing, labour costing, and budget control
Proven experience managing people, operations, and performance
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel between outlets as required

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
