Role Description This is an on-site role located in Gemas for an Operations Manager - Crop Farm. The Operations Manager will oversee and manage maze/corn production, logistics, and resources to optimize yield, quality, cost, and compliance. The Operations Manager will also develop and implement strategies, plans, and performance metrics, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. As a Greenfield project, the crop production equipment is new and includes technologies that will deliver fit-for-environment fertilizer and pesticide management. Key Responsibilities: Team Training And Supervision: Operate equipment as required and provide training in the efficient and safe use of all equipment to develop a skilled and efficient workforce. In collaboration with the CFGM and the Field Operations and Irrigation Manager, provide guidance, and supervision to crop farming staff, including farmhands and equipment operators. In accordance with the Company\'s Health and Safety policy, promote a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency within the team. Collaborate with the Operations and Irrigation Manager in preparing work plan and duty routine for the workers. Crop Planning and Management: Collaborate with the Crop Farming General Manager, Lead Adviser-Crops and Agronomist to develop and execute crop planting and harvesting plans. As defined by the Lead Advisor-Crops and the Agronomy Manager, ensure that international best practice planting, irrigation, and pest control is obtained. Budget Support: Assist in developing and managing the budget for crop farming operations, including expenses related to seed, fertilizer, pesticides, and labour. Identify opportunities for cost optimization while realizing yield potential and maintaining high forage quality. Harvest and Storage: In consultation with the Lead Advisor-Crops, CFGM, and the Operations and Irrigation Manager, oversee the planning and execution of crop forage harvesting, including timing and techniques. Implement inventory management systems for forage or silage feed storage. Equipment and Machinery: Coordinate with the Workshop Manager and equipment maintenance team to ensure farm equipment, such as tractors, planting equipment, and harvesters, are well-maintained and in good working condition. Arrange for equipment repairs or replacements as needed. As defined by the Lead Advisor-Crops and the Agronomy Manager, conduct and train the operators in the accurate calibration of the crops equipment including planting and seeding equipment, pesticide application rates, and fertilizer rates and application uniformity. Environmental Practices: In accordance with the Company\'s environmental objectives, promote environmentally responsible crop farming practices, including soil conservation and sustainable land management, and optimise nutrient and water use efficiency. Assist on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations related to farming operations. In collaboration with the Agronomist, monitor and provide training in crop production pesticide handling and usage. Data Analysis and Record-Keeping: Collaborate with the Precision Ag Manager, Agronomist and Lead Advisory-Crops to analyse crop production data to assess forage yield and yield variability, and operation efficiency. Using the company\'s GIS platform, maintain detailed records of crop farming activities, including planting and harvest dates, crop health, and input usage. Generate and share reports and insights to track crop production performance. Others: Perform any tasks / duties assigned by the Management. Qualifications Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in crop farming operations and management, with hands-on experience in various crop types and cultivation techniques Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven ability to lead and motivate teams and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders Demonstrated ability to manage resources and budgets, implement continuous improvement programs, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards Experience in maze/corn farming and management, with knowledge of no-till and strip till production systems, pest control, and irrigation is an advantage. Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and technology applications related to crop farming operations and management, such as precision agriculture, farm management software, and crop forecasting tools Strong knowledge of crop farming best practices, trends, and innovations, and ability to apply them in practical settings Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with ability to anticipate, identify, and mitigate risks and issues Experience in sustainability and environmental stewardship programs is a plus
