  • Develops and optimizes Indirect Tax processes in the sense of an "end-to-end orientation". Concepts solutions to technical problems and finds possibilities for technical implementation. Encourages the introduction of technical solutions. Seeks "Best practice solutions" within and outside of your own unit and examines the application in your own area of expertise.
  • Effectively supports in delivery of Indirect Tax services to BASF group companies in the APAC region. Ensuring that these services are delivered in accordance with established process and work procedures and in compliance with BASF policies, FRC requirements and country\'s legal and statutory requirements. These tasks will be performed with professional technical competency.
  • Initiates VAT projects for the professional development of the unit. Takes over the technical project management. Works on technical tasks in the framework of cross-unit and cross-company projects in the area of Indirect taxes.
  • Support and coordinate in developing specific sustainable, simplified and efficient indirect tax operational processes in a timely manner
  • Deliver VAT advice to specific business operation independently
  • Increase own VAT expertise and therefore contribute to continuity of company available expertise. Exchange expertise, especially in VAT communities.
Main TasksIncluding but not limited to:
  • Manage the development, implementation and harmonization of new business practices and processes in the area of Indirect tax and in compliance with BASF Group requirements.
  • Manage process enhancement, innovation and challenge status quo of current and existing VAT processes in Order-to-Cash and local companies.
  • Provide process and systems support to the Indirect Tax team by monitoring the processes, ensuring quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Be an expert within the team, providing process knowledge and support to colleagues and troubleshoot when required.
  • Aware of tax incentives, business developments, and well-versed with local tax regulations and practices in the APAC region.
  • Provide tax data input to tax accounting posting, indirect tax determination and VAT Master Data (including VAT account reconciliation) of responsible entities and subsequent monitoring.
  • Review and monitor relevant tax filings and tax applications prepared by Local Finance of responsible sites (e.g. high business complexity and multi-BU entities) to ensure accurate and timely submission as required by tax regulation and tax authority
  • Provide tailor made VAT advice and value-adding guidance to specific Business/Functional units\' operations within specific timeline independently with close and good collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Contribute and provide high-quality and timely support to various ad-hoc projects (e.g. digitalization transformation)
  • Coordinate and support in establishing, optimizing and developing operational processes to drive efficiency and excellence on timely basis in line with business needs or exploring and analyzing specific new VAT regulation reform
  • Familiar with defense tactics and well-versed with local VAT regulations/practices to support specific VAT matters (e.g. tax audit or inquiry) and implementation of VAT planning initiatives in cooperation with Tax Department
  • Accomplish other tasks/projects as assigned by the supervisor within agreed timeline and provide timely report to the supervisor or other related stakeholders
Stakeholder Management
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with customers to ensure that solutions are adopted, implemented and maintained appropriately.
Frequent cooperation within BASF Group and/or Service Hub KL
  • Counterparts and/or relevant stakeholders in BASF companies, internal auditors and the other functional teams (local finance/tax teams)
  • Specialists, Experts, Managers, Senior Managers, and peer team members
  • Service Centre management team
  • Global/Regional O2C functional units
  • Work closely with external consultants, auditors etc
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Execute work in accordance with the GB Service Catalogue by providing timely and accurate customer service.
  • Identify, recommend and develop solutions for continuous improvement opportunities internal BASF or external. Ensure successful implementation across the team and in the local companies
  • Establish a knowledge database of work problems encountered and steps for resolution to facilitate continuous learning, development and cross sharing of knowledge throughout Indirect Tax team
  • Support Regional and Global projects when required.
  • Understand and follow local regulation and statutory requirements
  • Ensure new VAT process adaptation in compliance with BASF requirements and FRC controls
Resource Management
  • Allocate resources and responsibilities across project team members to deliver business result
  • Hold regular team meetings, staff briefing sessions and individual reviews to ensure group and/or individual\'s issues are recognized and resolved in a timely and orderly manner in the context of new process and project
  • Continuously coach, develop and motivate team to meet service standards expected through structured training and on the job coaching thereby achieving the expected delivery service quality
Planning & Controlling
  • Plan and manage costs within budget expenditure assigned for projects or Order-to-Cash function and guidelines
Leadership, Cooperation & Supervision

  • Provide guidance and support to the designated Assistant Manager of Order-to-Cash in project management context
Degree of Supervision Required in the job
  • Independent and work with minimal supervision
RequirementsEducation
  • University degree in finance, tax or accounting studies; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent
Working Experience
  • Minimum 5 years\' experiences in Taxation and other accounting function. Competent candidates with lesser years of experience are considerable.
  • Experience in working with SAP system or other major ERP system\'s work environment
  • Experience in a shared service or business process outsourcing engagement will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a MNC or Chartered Accounting firms preferred.
Technical & Professional Knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of SAP (or other major ERP system)
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP S4Hana will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Tax Reporting and other accounting functions
  • Knowledge of Tax Control Frameworks will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of MS office tools
  • Communications skills are important to develop and establish cooperation and rapport with users at working levels and of different nationalities
  • Proficiency in English with good communication skills
Desired
  • External experience in a shared service or business process outsourcing engagement will be an added advantage
  • Experience working in a MNC or Malaysian Public listed company
