About United Nations University - International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH)

UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the designated UN think tank on global health, serving as a policy translation hub for UN member states, agencies and programmes. It was established by a statute adopted by the Council of the United Nations University in December 2005.

The Institute generates policy-relevant analysis by applying a gender lens to inform the development, implementation and evaluation of health programmes. UNU-IIGH also supports the capacity development of local decision-makers and stakeholders to engage effectively with global health challenges within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The current work of the Institute includes conducting research, promoting policy change and facilitating policy implementation around a number of global health topics, including gender and health; maternal, sexual and reproductive health; decolonisation and global health governance; health systems policy; implementation research in health; digital health; communicable disease control; the commercial determinants of child health; and health equity.

Responsibilities

At UNU-IIGH, we are offering the positions of Principal Visiting Fellow/Visiting Fellow:

1. To individuals working in close collaboration with UNU-IIGH in research and evidence generation, policy, advocacy or dissemination associated with the mandate of UNU-IIGH;

2. To retired or recently separated Principal Fellows who continue to collaborate with UNU-IIGH; and

3. To prominent global health champions working with researchers at UNU-IIGH to promote the values and strategic direction of the Institute.

The key collaborating Partner for this role would be the Director of UNU-IIGH. With this appointment, we seek to strengthen our efforts in supporting projects that:

1. Engage directly with global health priorities, particularly as they relate to post-pandemic architecture;

2. Strengthen capacity in addressing health and health system challenges to address gender equality and health equity;

3. Enhance integration of human rights and accountability approaches in global health policy-making and programming; and

4. Strengthen capacity for local decision-making.

Qualifications

Remuneration

The Principal Visiting Fellow/Visiting Fellow title is not a salaried position and does not carry an honorarium. However, Visiting Fellows may also undertake separate paid consultancy contracts on behalf of and in collaboration with UNU-IIGH staff.
Duration of contract

The initial appointment will be for one (1) year with the possibility of renewal.
