Take overall responsibility for product engineering support, including yield optimization, cost reduction, design for manufacturability, process standardization, and process simplification.
Manage teams and ensure appropriate coverage to maintain productivity without disruptions.
Engage in early involvement for new product introduction and process development during the EVT (Engineering Validation Test) stage.
Collaborate closely with R&D to enhance product performance while considering cost-efficiency.
Provide timely responses to line issues to ensure smooth manufacturing flow.
Guide engineers to actively participate in Lean Manufacturing projects and cost reduction initiatives.
Establish and review quarterly key performance indicators (KPIs) with respective engineers.
Ensure product specifications and documentation are up to date at all times.
Implement system-level enhancements to ensure full compliance with processes.
Demonstrate hands-on approach, coaching and guiding the team in issue handling, troubleshooting, data analysis, and understanding of product specifications.
Collaborate closely with in-house module Product Engineering (PE) to ensure optimal performance of in-house assembled OSA (Optical Sub-Assembly) at the module level.
Work closely with the process team to achieve quarterly KPI goals for the department.
Coordinate with the product costing team to ensure accurate scrap projections.
Knowledge of wire bonding or die attach processes would be an added advantage.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Experience working in a high mix and high-volume manufacturing environment, particularly in semiconductor assembly processes, would be beneficial.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a team of engineers and technicians.
Strong attention to detail, data-driven, and analytical mindset.
Ability to adapt and be flexible in response to rapid changes in the companys business needs.
Good knowledge of optics, as well as basic mechanical and electrical principles.
Ability to drive teams towards continuous improvement.
