About the JobWe are seeking a high integrity and professional Purchasing Assistant to be stationed at HICOM-Glenmarie Industrial Park, Shah Alam. Our client, a well-established company in Malaysia since 1969, specializes in piping materials, fabrication, and the import and export of products ranging from valves and pipes to pipeline systems and control instrumentation. With a presence in major commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries, the company delivers comprehensive piping system solutions for air-conditioning, fire-fighting, plumbing, water treatment, shipbuilding, and general industries.Working HourMonday - Friday 08.00am - 05.00pmAlternate Saturday 08.00am - 12.00pmJob Responsibilities

  • Assist for sourcing, cost negotiations, credit term and buying of raw materials, consumable items, spare parts etc.
  • Screening quality and specification of goods delivered and costs charged by the suppliers;
  • Reviewing purchase requests and preparing purchase orders to suppliers;
  • Assist to maintain a full record and coordinate with various suppliers and compare costs for purchasing requisition within the organization.
  • To maintain proper records of purchases, quotations, supplier information and other related documentation.
  • Follow up closely with the shipping & forwarding agent on all the import shipments.
  • Provide product costing for the sales team and time to time update costing.
  • Handle other ad-hoc matters from time to time assigned by superior
Qualifications & Experiences Needed
  • Team-work oriented, high level of integrity, with capacity to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Good writing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Computer literate, especially in MS Office applications and the internet.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet management and database management experience.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be a problem-solver.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese languages to communicate effectively with Chinese Speaking suppliers
