Background: European MNC (Greenfield) - Electrical & Electronics
Position Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: Simpang Ampat, Penang
Tenure: Permanent
Headcount: 1

Responsibilities:

• Responsible across full commodities within Penang site
• Through efficient sourcing of materials, services & solutions, maximizing supplier value, proactively managing business risks & contributing to the creation of value for the Customer.
• Ensure the smooth facility start-up as well as production kickoff. Total spend will quickly increase and focus first on indirect purchasing.
• Manage request for quotations and proposals as needed, to procure items or benchmark current sources
• Place purchase orders in support of indirect purchasing needs
• Review quotes and proposals from suppliers and negotiate as needed to ensure best pricing and service
• Work with suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve payment, services, or supply discrepancies
• Monitor orders and work with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of goods or services
• Work with stakeholders in the organization to set up new suppliers as needed
• Ensure the set up and follow up of the commercial agreements, especially concerning Price, Quality, Schedule and Logistics conditions for both direct and indirect purchasing.
• Support the development of localization strategies working closely with the global commodity team, with R&D project teams and with Supply Chain.
• Serve as escalation point for Buyers in the resolution of potential issues.
• Achieve cost savings target or goal as determined by leadership

Requirements:

• Possess a Bachelor Degree/Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
• With at least 5 years of experience in a managerial role Purchasing
• Possess international and multicultural experience, effective and tough negotiator, rigorous and autonomous; focused, organized and results oriented.
• Possess good communication skill and fluent in English
• Experience of Western companies and culture is a must
• Proactive and positive personality with outstanding analytical and conceptual competences, high problem solving competency and pragmatic
• Team worker with excellent communication skills, able to convince (from push to pull)
• Good business sense and high customer orientation
