Job Summary:
The QA Technician will be responsible for ensuring that products manufactured in the metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication processes meet all quality standards and specifications. The technician will perform inspections, tests, and audits to identify defects or deviations from specifications, and work closely with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:
Conduct routine inspections of metal stamped and sheet metal fabricated parts and assemblies using various measurement tools and equipment.
Perform first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections to verify product conformity to specifications.
Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement instruments to measure dimensions and tolerances and experience in CMM, VMM etc.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action reports.
Document and report any deviations from specifications and work with production teams to resolve quality issues.
Prepare and maintain quality control documentation, including quality plans, inspection checklists, and test procedures.
Process Audits and Improvements:
Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action investigations to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Work with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and enhance product quality.
Quality Standards and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality policies.
Stay updated on relevant quality standards and best practices in metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication.
Assist in preparing for and participating in external quality audits and certifications.
Training and Development:
Train and support production personnel on quality control procedures and inspection techniques.
Assist in the development and implementation of quality training programs for new hires and existing employees.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Precision Engineering or related field is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication industries.
Able to read technical drawings and understand GD&T (added advantage)
Proficient in using precision measurement tools and equipment; knowledge of NDT methods is a plus.
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485) and quality control principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; ability to analyze data and identify trends. Familiar with 8D, 5 Why, RCA and other relevance in QMS.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in using quality management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc)
