Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will play a
key role in securing new projects
, focusing primarily on
pre-tendering, cost estimation, and bid preparation
for electrical and infrastructure works. This role requires strong analytical skills, market awareness, and attention to detail to ensure competitive and compliant tender submissions that align with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare
detailed cost estimates
,
Bills of Quantities (BQ)
, and
tender documents
for pre-tender and bidding purposes.
Analyze
drawings, specifications, and technical documents
to identify scope, risks, and cost implications.
Participate in
pre-tender meetings, site assessments, and clarifications
to ensure accurate costing and understanding of project requirements.
Conduct
rate analysis
, cost benchmarking, and market surveys for materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
Coordinate with engineers, procurement, and management to prepare
competitive bid proposals
.
Manage tender documentation, submission schedules, and compliance with client requirements.
Support
post-tender clarifications
, negotiations, and value engineering proposals.
Maintain and update
cost databases, supplier lists, and historical project data
for continuous improvement of pricing strategies.
Assist in project handover to the execution team upon successful award, ensuring smooth transition of commercial information.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in
Quantity Surveying
,
Civil Engineering
,
Electrical Engineering
, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum
2-5 years
of relevant experience in
tendering, cost estimation, or pre-contract works
within the construction, infrastructure, or electrical sector.
Strong understanding of
project costing, procurement, and contract management
.
Skills:
Proficient in
Microsoft Excel
,
AutoCAD
,
Microsoft Project
, and/or
CostX
.
Familiar with standard forms of contract (
FIDIC, PAM, JKR
).
Excellent
analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
.
Detail-oriented, able to work under tight tender deadlines, and perform effectively in a team environment.
Willing to travel for
site visits or client meetings
within Penang and nearby areas.
