Job Description

Job Purpose Strategize, lead, and drive framework and management of Islamic Banking and Shariah Non-Compliance (SNC) Risks to ensure Islamic Banking Related Risk and SNC risks undertaken within the Risk Appetite and objectives of the Group regionally. Job Responsibilities

• To strategize and drive implementation of risk management framework and initiatives for Islamic Banking within the Group as a second line of defence (2LOD) function to support the objectives of CIMB Islamic Bank regionally;
• To lead oversight and effective 2LOD challenge on management of risks and adherence of risk management controls for CIMB Islamic Bank and its stakeholders;
• To lead continuous identification, asserssment and implementation of latest regulatory governance/requirements and industry best practices related to Islamic banking regionally;
• To develop, lead and drive awareness of Islamic banking and SNC risk management within the Group to ensure sufficient level of competency in managing Islamic Banking Related Risk and SNC risks;
• To drive and support implementation of business or process enhancement initiatives/projects by Business Units and Business Enablers (BU/BE) regionally by representing and providing constructive 2LOD challenges and recommendations to be in line with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s appetite and objectives;
• To lead, inspire and inculcate the EPICC Culture within the department to be in line with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s cultural objectives;

• Degree holder in Shariah/Islamic Finance/Islamic law
• Preference for Certified Islamic Finance Professional, or Master/MBA in Islamic Finance. Other professional or post graduate qualifications e.g. Chartered Accountant, CFA, GARP, MBA will be an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years work experience in Islamic Banking with exposure in risk management in an Islamic Financial Institution (iFI) with relevant first line of defence experience and knowledge in Islamic Banking product development, operations and/or auditing of iFI.
• Strong strategic, judgement and integrative thinking skills, deep risk management knowledge, as well as good organizational, communication and influencing skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrate managerial, leadership and facilitation skills
• Credible advisor \xe2\x80\x93 thorough understanding of operational risk tools as well as industry and regulatory standards e.g. Basel
• Collaborative partner \xe2\x80\x93 ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely at all levels (internally and externally)
• Proficient presentational skills
