Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Risk Manager. Principle Responsibilities: Execution of project end-financing (EF) governance and Second Line of Defense oversight on the compliance by First Line of Defense. Evaluation covers the assessment of project merits vis a vis developer\'s pricing and sales strategies, development masterplan, sale ability and sustainability of prices post completion, developer\'s financial health and track record, risk appetite setting by project and developer exposure. Key objectives would be to mitigate bookings of projects with risk of abandonment and delay, poor sales and price sustainability and to meet deliverables turnaround target. Execution of Second Line of Defence oversight on property valuation governance and compliance by First Line of Defence. Evaluation covers the effectiveness of valuation controls, management of assigned valuers, review of exception requests and to meet deliverables turnaround target. Policy and strategy formulation to ensure adequate check and balance, risk mitigations and enablers in the end-to-end EF governance and valuation processes. Continued fine-tuning of EF policies and valuation practices to keep up with the evolving operating environment, developers\' and secondary market sales techniques to ensure risk mitigations remain effectively embedded. Supporting the formulation and enforcement of actions relating to climate risk management to comply with regulatory and group directives as well as undertaking operational controls of identification of risk locations based on historical climate events and working along external consultants to facilitate climate risk management. Review/approval of exceptional lending and large ticket applications within WPB Risk\'s delegation. Work with stakeholders on problem recognition and resolution, enforcing risk mitigations and enablers to facilitate growth ambitions. Requirements Qualifications: Minimum qualification of Bachelor\'s Degree with at least 5 years of working experience in commercial or retail lending Strong understanding of the local property market on under-construction and subsale segments and access to latest market practices and feedback. Knowledge of mortgage and property purchase legal documentation and relevant regulations including National Land Code, Housing Development Act and Strata Title Act. Expertise in undertaking data driven analysis and drawing meaningful conclusions and translating into practical policies. Ability to anticipate and resolve issues, execute strategies and bring diverse perspectives. Intermediate or advanced knowledge in Excel and Power Point. Ability to produce clear and concise presentation materials and articulate effectively. Contacts with key property developers and estate agents would be an advantage.
