Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Lead the Occupational Safety Health (OSH) unit of Glomac Berhad and provide OSHA-related support to senior management, property managers, staff, delivering professional safety advice, support and risk assessments. Direct responsibility and accountability for managing and ensuring standard of safety and health in accordance with the relevant statutes. Note: Employment of a Safety Officer is in compliance with Paragraph 29(3) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 (Act 514) JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to roll out and monitor the implementation of the relevant Safety and Health Programs required under the law. Ensure compliance to applicable Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514) statutory, legal and other requirements as far as reasonably practicable Main coordinator for HIRARC / Risk Assessment for OSH related activities to identify potential High-Risk Area and monitor Control Measures are in place to prevent incidences In accordance with the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 (Act 514) P.U.(A) 315/1997 Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Officer) Regulations 1997, it shall be the duty of a safety and health officer- to advise the employer or any person in charge of a place of work on the measures to be taken in the interests of the safety and health of the persons employed in the place of work; to inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliance or process or any description of manual labour used in the place of work, is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work; to investigate any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease which has happened in the place of work; to assist the employer or the safety and health committee, if any, pursuant to regulation 11 of the Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Committee) Regulations 1996 [P.U.(A) 616/96] in organizing and implementing occupational safety and health programme at the place of work; to become secretary to the safety and health committee, if any, as specified under sub regulation 6(2) of the Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Committee) Regulations 1996, and perform all functions of a secretary as specified in that Regulations; to assist the safety and health committee in any inspection of the place of work for the purpose of checking the effectiveness and efficacy of any measures taken in compliance with the Act or any regulations made under the Act; to collect, analyse and maintain statistics on any accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning and occupational disease which have occurred at the place of work; to assist any officer in carrying out his duty under the Act or any regulations made under the Act; and to carry out any other instruction made by the employer or any other person in charge of the place of work on any matters pertaining to safety and health of the place of work. Monitor DOSH Certificate of Fitness (CF) Machinery renewal, Bomba Fire Certificate (FC) and other local authorities permit related to OSHA are renewed periodically and manage compliance inspection. Conduct Permit To Work (PTW) enforcement and spot checks to ensure necessary safety precautions are in place by contractors. Day to day management and supervision of site contract works and personnel relating to compliance to the relevant OSH laws and regulations, including but not limited to any statutory or legal requirements in relation to Safety and Health matters. Ensure Safety and Health related documentations and records are well maintained and updated from time to time. Consolidate Monthly OSH and related progress report to the Head of Property Services Department / SGM of the Division. Undertake Workplace Accident Investigation as and when required and recommend preventive actions, as well as to maintain and analyze the accident statistics and trends for continuous improvements Perform General Safety and Health Briefings / actions / training and education program as part of a continuing process to ensure and promote Safety and Health Awareness at the workplace, including but not limited to COVID-19 or other outbreaks, epidemic, pandemic and endemic. Key person for Fire Safety Organization (OKK), Emergency Response Team and Annual Emergency Fire Drills / Exercise Maintaining good liaison with OSH, DOE, BOMBA and other relevant authorities or parties related to Occupational Safety and Health To carry out and perform all whatsoever assignments, instructions, duties, responsibilities and tasks as and when directed by the Head of Property Services Department / SGM of the Division or from the senior management and Board of Directors from time to time. Job Type: Full-time Salary: RM3,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
