The School

This is a British curriculum school for children aged 3 to 18 based in Pearl City, Penang, Malaysia. The school is equipped with first rate facilities (including excellent sporting and specialist classroom learning spaces) and accommodations students from 18 nationalities - the largest group being Malaysian. 70% of the teaching staff are from the UK however the school does pride itself on its international teaching mix.

Living and Working in Penang

The school is located in lush surroundings in Simpang Ampat. Penang Island (30/40 mins drive) is a nearby tropical holiday island off the north-west coast of (and connected by bridge to) the Malaysian peninsular. The cost of living is considerably lower than in Europe, the standard of accommodation high and the life style enviable. Travel to all parts of the South East Asia region is affordable and easy.

School Requirements

  • Applicants must be qualified teachers holding degree level certification and teacher certification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of KS5 A level teaching.
  • You should have at least 2 year of experience post qualification as a minimum. Previous UK curriculum experience is preferred and previous international experience is welcomed.

  • Salary range of 9,825 RM (2 years experience) up to maximum 12,945 rm (8 years experience - maximum entry level) in a low cost living location*

*Tax is fairly complicated in Malaysia. Teachers are taxed at 30% in first year but will then get a tax refund of around 12% paid back to them and will then be on around 18 - 20% tax from that point.
