Job Description

JOB PURPOSEAs the Section Head of Data Engineering, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support comprehensive data ingestion, transformation, and storage. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to comprehend business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that cater to data needs. Your role will involve architecting and optimizing data models and databases to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a robust data infrastructure, including modern data lake solutions like Microsoft Fabric, Snowflakes, and Google BigLake. Lastly, you will implement best practices for data quality and data security to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of data assets.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Using data to understand data behavior and needs while providing insights to other teams to improve data services.
• Automating data operations for business and stakeholders by building data pipelines.
• Promoting the use of green technologies and practices in data management to reduce environmental impact.
• Ensuring that data practices comply with ethical standards and contribute positively to the community.
• Advocating for open data and transparency, contributing to the wider data community through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Experience to managing a team of data engineers.
• Experience in managing large scale Enterprise Data Warehouse.
• Expertise in big data/open technologies/distributed computing frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Hortonworks, Cloudera, Spark, Kafka, Cloud equivalent/EMR Glue, Databricks, Snowflakes, and Microsoft Fabric) for processing large-scale datasets.
• High proficiency in SQL and SparkSQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SparkSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
• Experience in managing Data Platform CI/CD and DevOps concept.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Experience to managing a team of data engineers.
• Any certification in Big Data / Open technologies are highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Expertise in big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Hortonworks, Cloudera, Spark, Kafka, Cloud equivalent/EMR Glue, Databricks, Snowflakes, and Microsoft Fabric) for processing large-scale datasets.
• Experience in managing large scale Enterprise Data Warehouse.
• High proficiency in SQL and SparkSQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SparkSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
• Experience in managing Data Platform CI/CD and DevOps concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with implementing an internal customer-facing self-service analytics function is a plus.
