• Manages and directs the activities of the plant operation for demineralised water treatment plant, waste water treatment plant, hydrogen generating plant, steam/water sampling rack, boiler feedwater chemical dosing, and sea water chemical dosing; monitors and advises on pollution and its control, including aspects of the process that may constitute a health hazard.
• Manages the water quality of the industry cooling water as well as the performance of the cooling tower.
• Ensures adequate supply of qualified demineralised water at all times.
• Manages the proper activities at various laboratories.
• Ensures coal, oil, steam, condensate water and boiler feedwater samples are analyzed or directs the analysis of these samples.
• Responsible, manages, directs, monitors and advises the activities of the plant preservation process for offline equipment (boiler, turbine etc.) taking into account cycle chemistry aspect that may constitute health hazard and damages to the equipment.
• Participation in the execution of the modernization and digital transformation initiatives on the plant business processes and asset management in chemical and environmental aspects.
• Leads, plans, manages and executes the front-line maintenance tasks that are related to the water treatment plant and chemical systems.
• Maintains and manages the plant/laboratory stocks of chemical and equipment.
• Periodically compares laboratory analyzed values with values monitored by instrument analyzers as cross-checks on instrument operation and respond to any appreciable deviation promptly.
• Participates in testing operation as required.
• Compiles reports on plant performance and chemical stock monthly and prepares monthly report to the Operation Manager.
• Ensures good housekeeping conditions in areas under your charged.
• Monitors the operations of the flue gas/oily water/chemical effluent/plant water discharge, to ensure compliance with the Regulation laid by the Department of Environment. Compile monthly report as required. Ensure effective implementation of Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO14001:2015 standards.
• Coordinator role in environmental matters and compliances (Environmental Management Plan, Environmental Quality Act 1974) in station which involve Department of Environmental (DOE), coal power plant stations, Corporate Environmental Division (HSSE), other SEB departments (R&D etc.).
• Provides technical support and chemical services to other department as required.
• Gives training and advises in all aspects of chemical handling safety on site.
• Trains new staff in all aspect of plant operation or chemical analysis and assists with the training of other employees as directed.
• Recommends short term maintenance work of the plants.
• Continuously monitor, maintain and comply with all requirements and tasks in line with the ISO 55000 Asset Management Manual, Role and Responsibilities procedure.
• Corporate conscience to support HSSE corporate initiatives from time to time.
• Carries out any other relevant duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE (KNOW-HOW):

• Minimum Degree in Chemical Engineering qualification.
• Three (3) years of practical experience in power station or other related industries.

Preference will be given to internal candidate.
