About the job Senior Engineer, Mechanical - Static
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Senior Mechanical Engineers most important function is to ensure through individual or the collective actions of others expert in the field of Mechanical Engineering, that facilities designed for, or on behalf of any of Mubadala Energys (MEs) affiliates are safe, reliable and in compliance with company approved standards and relevant industry practice and codes. His/her actions to confirm this expectation is met may include, reviews of drawings, calculations, specifications or results of special studies, detail design oversight, and when necessary, independent verification that the work performed is correct and complies with sound engineering practice.
Project assignments range from conceptual engineering, FEED through detail engineering, specification, procurement, and commissioning. The Senior Mechanical Engineer stewards the development of the mechanical design through each phase to establish and verify relevant Basis of Design requirements are being met, that the design deliverables are clear, correct, and provide descriptions adequate to support the purchase of equipment, materials and the fabrication of the facilities.
This position also provides mechanical engineering subject matter expertise with respect to static mechanical topside equipment and packages on existing operating assets; to resolve issues resulting from operations experience with the equipment and packages. This may include providing technical opinions on fitness-for-service assessments.
The position also takes a lead role in liaison with the mechanical discipline function within PETRONAS and with the JV partners.
Based in the KL office with travel as necessary to project design, fabrication, manufacturing centres, and offshore locations.

Ensure contractor compliance with the HSSE aspects of project engineering procedures for mechanical engineering.

Function
Implement local and international design codes and practices to comply with regulatory requirements.
Implement company mechanical engineering related procedures and specifications in line with current industry codes and best practices.
Preparation of design basis, philosophies and specifications related to mechanical static equipment and packages.
Incorporate lessons learned from operational issues into current and future designs of facilities.
Contribute towards an appropriate life-cycle philosophy for the facilities using all applicable standards.
Engineering
Develop mechanical and piping design philosophies, and specifications.
Review the design works and studies performed by the engineering consultants and ensure that they are in accordance with technical requirements and meeting the schedules. Review and approve drawings, specification and technical documents for all static mechanical design related work.
Responsible for the design, specification, selection, and services relating to static mechanical and packaged equipment.
Responsible for the technical interface with vendors and equipment suppliers including the review of design deliverables and integration of vendor information into the overall facility design.
Maintain a complete record of technical deliverables and correspondence to support design decisions and equipment selection, documenting all key mechanical engineering calculations.
Project
Prepare scopes of work in relation to the static mechanical engineering discipline and interfaces for company tenders, and review and evaluate technical submissions prior to award of contracts and purchase orders.
Oversee mechanical works performed by consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure timely completion and compliance with the technical specifications and contract or purchase order.
Management of mechanical equipment vendors to evaluate technical bids, review vendor documentation, and attend factory inspections as required including prior review of shop and site test procedures.
Review and coordinate mechanical works both onshore and offshore and provide instruction and guidance to construction personnel on technical issues in line with the project requirements during fabrication, installation, hook-up and commissioning, start-up and operations.
General
Participate in project meetings, interface meetings and design reviews.
Provide technical support, advice and guidance to operating and maintenance personnel on mechanical engineering aspects of facilities including asset integrity and equipment strategies.
Build mechanical discipline knowledge by leveraging expertise through technical networks and consolidating technology issues into summary documents.
Raise and discuss key or critical technical issues with the Engineering Manager to develop cost effective solutions, using best practices and current industry design criteria.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge
A Bachelors\' degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
Fully familiar with the technical specification and application of mechanical static equipment and packages, within an offshore oil and gas facility, including the procurement, installation and commissioning requirements.
Conversant with mechanical equipment design requirements using API, ANSI, ASME, ASHRAE, AWS, NACE, NFPA, UL, TEMA and other applicable codes and standards.
Demonstrate an understanding of the full project cycle from concept development through to start-up.
Experience
Minimum 15 years experience mechanical static equipment and package design and specification, including considerable practical experience in the fabrication and installation for offshore facilities.
Experience of working as part of a multi discipline team for facilities engineering projects and/or offshore development projects.
