1. Provides technical consultancy to support resolving complex, rare or unpredicted plant upset issues (non-routine, non-standard) as needed to maintain safe and reliable operation.
2. Analyze & interpret current & historical O&M data from various data sources, understand design vs actual O&M data, explore improvement incorporating lesson learnt & industrial best practices.
3. Work on ambiguous data & incomplete info, engage with all relevant parties, including O&M personnel & SME to interpret the data, make informed decision on way forward to resolve problem.
4. Coordinate in-house Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Technical Specialist (TS) with blend of expertise to provide integrated technical services to generation fleet.
5. Establish and review Maintenance & Engineering policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, carry out technical audits & work with generation fleet owner to continuously improve operation & maintenance practices, promote proactive maintenance.
6. Standardizing of, and systematically documenting guidelines for, current work processes and practices to consolidate best practices for secure and reliable generation power system.
7. Implementation of strategies and concepts of and requirements for, system measurement, monitoring, investigation, testing, and remedial measures to ensure reliability and security of generation power system.
8. Provides review of all engineering, designs, commercial justifications, and part specifications for projects and modifications.
9. Getting involved in various stages of the projects including understanding of user requirements, selection of best-suited technical solutions, preparation of scope of work/technical specifications and execute sourcing & procurement processes when necessary.
10. Plan annual activities and prepare annual budget, manage expenses within approved budget.
11. Inculcate best HSSE practices among staff, contractors & service provider.
12. Review & devise solution with commercial value taken into consideration.
13. Actively coach and mentor junior engineers and participate in the establishment of progression, development and continuous learning plans.
14. Inculcates sense of responsibility and work commitment, build business acumen among team members.
15. To execute instruction given by the superior accordingly.
16. Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) services for project/plant change/maintenance repair by providing technical support, advice on inspection requirement and reviewing documents to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and standards, align with industrial best practices.
17. Provide technical direction to asset owners to deliver asset integrity, reliability and optimization plan. Responsibilities include troubleshooting of incipient, recurring failure and provide asset owners with technical knowledge on material selection as well as corrosion control plan.
18. Review regularly the effectiveness of Plant Corrosion Management Plan (CMP) and carry out continuous improvement.QUALIFICATION:
1. Possess a Degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical/Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or any equivalent qualification
2. Registered as Graduate Engineer with Board of Engineers MalaysiaWORK EXPERIENCE:
1. Essential: 10 years of working experience in plant environment (power, petrochemical, refinery, production facility)
2. Advantage: 5 years of technical advisory role as consultant or technical management
3. Minimum of 15 years of total working experienceSKILLS:
1. Demonstrable and credentialed skills in MCI disciplines:a) Material science: Material selectionb) Corrosion engineering:i. Corrosion principles, methods, standard procedures in the maintenance and repair of power station equipmentii. Able to review and improve structural corrosion management strategies and plans based on the types of structures, fabrication techniques, potential corrosion mechanisms and environmental factorsc) inspection techniques: Visual, NDT, Advance NDT2. Firm grasp ina) Industry code & standards and regulations
b) Plant safety and accident prevention measures required for maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment
c) Failure analysis: Ability to analyze difficult, cross disciplines and unusual technical operation or equipment/system problems3. Essential managerial skillsa) Leadership: Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles including delegation of work, training of subordinates, performance evaluation, discipline and hiring
b) Project management, strategic planning

1. Frequent travel to various power stations across Sarawak, a number in remote locations.
2. Having the credential to influence and implement the change management in SEB.
3. Having excellent network in other industrial in MCI.
4. Good knowledge of ISO QMS, SAP, Generation Asset management Policy, and Contractor Management System.
5. Demonstrate business & commercial acumen on SEB Power, and SEB Group.
6. To perform all tasks in line with the Information Security Quality Manual (ISQM) and the ISMS roles and responsibilities procedure.
7. To perform all tasks in line with the Information Governance Policy Suite and Guidelines.Preference will be given to internal candidate.
