Our opportunity for you:

Job Title : Senior Manager, Tax Services

Location : Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Department: Tax Services

Reporting to: Director, Global Service Centre

Direct Reports: Teams of officers within the team

Key responsibilities:
  • Manages and supervise the day to day operations of the Tax Services team.
  • Main point of contact on a day-to-day basis for operational matters and critical issues that need to be addressed before work get disseminated to the other team members
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure all operational, administrative and compliance function are duly executed in accordance to established policies and procedures
  • Manage stakeholders, addressing queries and escalations and providing solutions that is effective and efficient.
  • Actively review operational performance, identify trends and assess opportunities for improvement and adoption of best practices
  • Effective performance management - communicate job expectations, evaluate staff\'s work performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, offer feedback and set goals for future performance.
  • Provide operational data and reports to the management and or stakeholders
  • Review corporate tax, Goods & Services tax and personal tax returns.
  • Provide guidance and tax advice and solutions to clients in a diverse range of industries.
  • Oversee CRS/FATCA reporting and filing process
  • Share knowledge, develop resources, provide training and supervise staff in delivery of quality tax services.
  • Dealing with staff issues like leaves, sickness and other issues on a daily basis and ensuring staff are happy and motivated in their jobs
  • Assessing/planning the volume/level of work against timelines and disseminating daily work flows to other team members
  • Undertake general administration and other special projects as assigned
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and regularly review and update to ensure that they continue to remain relevant and consistently applied.
  • Ensures operational efficiency and effectiveness by improving overall processes through automation, continuous process improvement, reinforced controls, etc.
  • Monitors Service Level Agreement (SLA) delivery to ensure that all agreed service levels are met or exceeded as agreed with recipient markets
  • Flags anticipated SLA issues in a timely manner to the Head of GSC, and Stakeholders in recipient markets so that a resolution can be agreed..
Attributes/ Technical Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate to clients, senior management, direct reports and across other business units and support functions
  • Have strong team management experience
  • Organised, self-motivated and independent individual
  • Meticulous
  • Able to meet tight and multiple deadlines
  • Able to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Strong work ethic; professional and approachable
  • Inquisitive, proactive and able to inspire others to a high level of achievement
Relevant Experience & Skills:
  • 8-10 years of relevant tax services working experience in a mid-tier/large public accounting firms
  • Knowledge or experience in Singapore tax returns is an added advantage
Educational Qualifications:
  • A recognised university degree in accounting, finance or related fields.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient user of Microsoft, Excel, Word and Power Point
