Job Summary

  • Produce the mechanical design from concept to detail design.
  • Responsible for the design contents as assigned together with its follow-up for Authority and Client's approval. Assist in liaison and coordination with Local Authority Departments to obtain approval on design projects.
  • To ensure and manage the preparation of design calculations, reports, drawings, models, specifications, and tender documents for the design projects, review works produced from junior staff and modelers.
  • Report regularly to the Project Manager on the progress of assigned project works.
  • Knowledge sharing with others, ensuring team working spirit.
  • Participate in the progress meetings and workshops for design projects, with other disciplines
  • Coordinate with other discipline engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design projects.
  • Participate in coordination process, including in virtual coordination requirement, interface with other disciplines. Participate in coordination meetings with other disciplines and modelers. identify all the coordination amongst different discipline (CSDs) and structural openings required (SEM) issues, prepare and distribute the issues accordingly.
  • Liaison with Client/ Architects/ Structural Engineers/ Civil Engineers/System Contractors/ Civil Contractors/ QS etc to produce the mechanical building services system design from concept to detail design.
  • Assist in preparation of tenders / bids.
  • Ensuring proper records of all issued & received documents, models and drawings.
  • Perform regular documents and drawing backups and housekeeping work in the project directory.
  • Support Project Team for Presentations with BIM-Model and related activities.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years design experience in building or infrastructure projects subject to experience.
  • Candidate with professional qualification with recognized professional institute will be an added advantage
  • Candidates with experience in M&E infrastructure such as metro and railways will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with design and site / construction / testing & commissioning experience will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in executing design and construction project in BIM environment, and have good understanding on the use of BIM, REVIT, CAD etc.
  • Experience in BIM execution.
  • Experience in conducting virtual coordination with other disciplines and stakeholders, and in interface coordination exercises / multidiscipline interfaces.
  • Familiar with local code and authority submission procedure .
  • Team player and able to work independent with minimal supervision.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineer, and provide guidance and sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Competence in E20, HFC hydraulic calculation or equivalent, understanding on CFD simulation software such as FLUENT and FDS.
  • Be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and take ownership of workload.
  • Take accountability to the performance of own work as well as quality of delivery from the team.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a team player.
  • Be proactive about professional development and demonstrate a desire to continuously improve and develop as an engineer.
  • Client focus and delivery focus, ensuring team working approach at all time.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate.
  • Team working approach, and accountable to tasks assigned and the team.
  • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
  • Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master Degree or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution with strong academic background
