About the Role

We are seeking an experienced

Senior PostgreSQL Administrator

to manage and optimize our enterprise PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, performance tuning, high availability, backup/recovery, and automation. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of mission-critical data systems that support key business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Administer, configure, and maintain

PostgreSQL databases

in production, development, and testing environments. Design and implement

high availability (HA)

and

disaster recovery (DR)

solutions, including

streaming replication, logical replication, and clustering

. Perform

database tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning

to ensure peak performance. Plan and execute

database patching, upgrades, and migrations

(on-premise and cloud-based). Manage

backup and recovery

strategies using tools such as

pgBackRest, Barman, or native PostgreSQL utilities

. Automate routine tasks and monitoring using

shell scripting, Python, or Ansible

. Monitor database performance and health using tools like

pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana

, or equivalent. Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot complex database and performance issues. Implement and maintain

database security, access control, and encryption standards

. Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and operational procedures. Provide

24x7 support

for critical production systems when required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum

7-10 years

of experience in database administration, with at least

4 years specializing in PostgreSQL

. Strong understanding of

PostgreSQL internals, replication, partitioning, and indexing strategies

. Experience in

PostgreSQL performance tuning

and

query plan analysis

. Hands-on experience with

PostgreSQL in Linux/Unix environments

. Familiarity with

cloud-hosted PostgreSQL services

(AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or GCP Cloud SQL). Experience with

automation tools

(Ansible, Terraform, or similar) is a plus. Solid understanding of

SQL scripting

,

database security

, and

monitoring frameworks

. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

PostgreSQL certification

(EDB, Crunchy Data, or similar) preferred.

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
