About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented

Junior PostgreSQL Administrator

to join our IT Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining and supporting PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, and production environments. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in database administration, learn from senior DBAs, and develop technical expertise in open-source database systems.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the

installation, configuration, and maintenance

of PostgreSQL databases. Monitor

database health, performance, and availability

using standard tools and scripts. Support

backup, recovery, and disaster recovery

operations using tools such as

pgBackRest or Barman

. Help perform

database upgrades, patching, and migration

activities under supervision. Assist in

query tuning and performance troubleshooting

. Manage

user access, roles, and security settings

within PostgreSQL. Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure database stability and efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation for database configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Participate in

on-call rotations

or after-hours support as experience grows.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

1-3 years of experience

in database administration or support, with exposure to

PostgreSQL

preferred. Basic understanding of

SQL, database architecture, and Linux/Unix systems

. Familiarity with

backup/recovery concepts, replication, and performance tuning

is an advantage. Some experience with

cloud environments

(AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus. Scripting knowledge in

Shell, Python, or Bash

is an advantage. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced technical environment.

PostgreSQL certification or training

is a plus, but not required.

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
