Your New Role



As a Quantity Surveyor in an interior design company, your primary focus will be on cost management, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure project efficiency and financial viability. Your expertise will contribute to delivering client-centric solutions for multinational and local companies across Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare preliminary cost estimates based on design concepts and specifications, analyzing project feasibility and cost-effectiveness. Develop detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ), outlining materials, labor, and services required for each project. Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating submissions, and supporting bid analysis. Negotiate pricing and contract terms with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost alignment with project requirements. Monitor project expenditures, track variations, and prepare cost reports for stakeholders. Collaborate with the procurement team to assess vendors and subcontractors for quality and cost efficiency. Administer contracts by tracking terms, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation. Identify and mitigate potential cost risks while ensuring adherence to industry standards and company policies. Assess project variations and advise on cost impacts to support decision-making. Prepare final account statements, reconciling project costs and assisting with post-project financial reviews. Work closely with design, project management, and procurement teams to ensure smooth project execution. Contribute to process improvements in cost management, documentation, and reporting. Stay informed on industry benchmarks and past project insights for better cost planning and forecasting. Engage in team discussions, training, and mentorship to enhance professional growth in quantity surveying.

What You'll Need to Succeed



A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of interior design or architecture is advantageous. 3 to 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the interior design, construction, or architectural sectors. Strong expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and contract administration. Experience managing commercial or corporate interior projects is beneficial. Proficiency in QS software, AutoCAD, or Revit to interpret project specifications. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other cost analysis tools. Solid understanding of construction and interior fit-out materials, methods, and market pricing. Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail in cost documentation and BOQs. Effective negotiation skills for supplier and subcontractor agreements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders and project teams. Ability to multitask, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A proactive and problem-solving mindset focused on cost efficiency and project success. High ethical standards in handling financial and contractual responsibilities. Willingness to travel to project sites within Malaysia as needed.
