About the Role


As a Specialist, you will be accountable for delivery of general ledger accounting, period end close, and reporting requirements for South Australia (SA) Copper operations to both internal and external stakeholders for a Fixed Term (12 months) contract.
Accountabilities:
  • Demonstrates commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct.
  • Support and maintain relationships with key stakeholders based in GBS Finance KL, Group Accounting & Reporting, and SA Copper in Australia.
  • Monitor progressive process change and compliance to BHP Finance Our Requirements and SOX program.
  • Support master data requirements in anticipation for S4HANA change.
  • Prepare accounting and tax journal entries, trial balance upload, and statistical data load on monthly basis.
  • Review Fixed Assets Register for significant movements and ensure reconciled to trial balance.
  • Prepare memo to seek approval of new guarantee and review guarantee register for renewal.
  • Support tax lodgment and submissions to respective state tax authorities.
  • Support preparation and submissions to ABS and any other regulators.
  • Prepare forecast and budget load and provide commentary for variances to actuals and forecast.
  • Liaise with BHP Treasury and SA Copper Treasury for funding of working capital on weekly basis.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations and data verification to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results reported.
  • Prepare external briefing papers, management briefing papers, asset reporting packs, and stewardship review packs for group reporting.
  • Coordinate delivery of internal and external audit requirements


About You


Qualifications
  • Degree qualification in accounting or finance
  • Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA) either completion or currently pursuing will be added advantage

Experience & Technical Competencies
  • Minimum 7 years of working experience with a large corporate or multinational shared service functions environment.
  • Good communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement is essential.
  • Attention to detail, self-starter, ability to manage deadlines, identify and resolve problems.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to deliver value.
  • Strong experience in SAP FI system will be added advantage.
  • Understanding of resources industry and mining operations is beneficial.

Languages:
  • Fluent English, both verbal and written
