About the Role

The role is accountable for supporting the Coal BMA joint venture operations and stakeholders based in Australia by performing a variety of process, accounting and reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, BHP Our Requirements, and Code of Conduct;
  • Support and build relationships with Coal Accounting and Reporting, BMA Finance Business Partners, and External JV Partners;
  • Ensure accurate accounting and processing of transactions for Coal joint venture assets and operations in order to facilitate informed business decisions and meet compliance requirements
  • Perform period end close tasks, journal postings and ledger reviews to ensure accurate results and ledgers closed on time for monthly group management and joint venture partner reporting
  • Prepare monthly joint venture management reporting packs and quarterly special purpose accounts within stipulated deadline ensuring compliance with JV agreement and IFRS requirements
  • Assist with analysis of financial information and addressing queries from joint venture partners, finance business partners and operations stakeholders
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate balances recorded in the ledger, follow up with stakeholders and clear reconciling items
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors for the review and testing of internal controls, financial results, special purpose and statutory accounts
  • Participate in SOX compliance by ensuring processes and internal controls in place are performed effectively to address the associated risks
  • Support and contribute to the process improvement, simplification and productivity measures in line with BOS Practices
About You

Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting or finance
  • Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CA), either completion or currently pursuing will be added advantage
Experience & Technical Competencies
  • Minimum of 5 years\' experience with a large corporate or professional environment
  • Previous experience with shared service functions and audit firms preferred
  • Demonstrated strong accounting processes knowledge;
  • Attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines, good analytical, investigative and problem solving skills;
  • Capability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to deliver value
  • Good knowledge and experience of finance modules in SAP and related systems
  • Understanding of resources industry and mining operations beneficial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Vlookup, SUMIF, IF, Macros etc.)
Languages
  • Fluent English, both verbal and written
