The Role


The Senior Subsea Hardware Engineer will be accountable for delivering and executing a safe, credible, and cost competitive maintenance strategy for all of SMEP\xe2\x80\x99s deep-water subsea assets. The Senior Subsea Hardware Engineer will be the interface between SMEP Deepwater Maintenance and key stakeholders, both internal and external, on matters related to SMEP subsea hardware engineering, operations, and maintenance. They will be accountable for the development and deployment of subsea intervention strategies and be able to advise and provide assurance on subsea hardware installation, commissioning, and rectification strategies to ensure safe and flawless subsea operations. They are expected to continuously improve SMEP\xe2\x80\x99s subsea maintenance philosophy through identification of state-of-the-art technologies, industry learnings and global collaborations through communities of practice of the subsea discipline. THE ROLE As Senior Subsea Hardware Engineer, you will be accountable for the following requirements:
  • Demonstrate HSSE leadership and be accountable for the safe and reliable operations of all of SMEP\xe2\x80\x99s subsea hardware assets in compliance with the Shell HSSE Control Framework, Shell technical integrity/performance standards and manuals, and industry and regulatory codes and standards.
  • Apply the Shell Asset Management System standards and recommended practices to deliver fit-for-purpose subsea maintenance strategies that provides both high asset reliability and a competitive total cost of ownership for SMEP subsea assets.
  • Deliver the completion of the annual subsea hardware spares preservation, storage and maintenance campaigns to secure availability of SMEP\xe2\x80\x99s onshore subsea critical spares and tools.
  • Be able to develop, assure and steer subsea intervention methodologies for deepwater subsea hardware changeouts/maintenance activities using Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV) and applicable tools, and conduct effective simultaneous interfacing with topsides operations to ensure safe execution.
  • Provide subsea hardware engineering and operational inputs in support of SMEP\xe2\x80\x99s subsea operability reviews to secure subsea hardware reliability and functional enhancements.
  • Responsible for developing and executing risk-based subsea hardware inspection and maintenance scopes in line with the principles of Risk-Based Inspection and Reliability Centred Maintenance.
  • Support and enable flawless Project-to-Asset (P2A) transfer for future Subsea developments.
  • Provide, where applicable, subsea hardware engineering support to Projects, Completions/Well Intervention and Wells, Reservoir, Facilities Management activities.
  • Focal for SMEP subsea-hardware related activities and maintain good working relationship with key internal stakeholders \xe2\x80\x93 Sabah & Sarawak Maintenance, Reliability & Engineering, Production Technology, HSSE, Labuan Supply Base, Supply Chain, Projects, Wells, Integrated Planning
  • Tender Holder and/or Contract Holder and/or Contract Representative for Subsea Maintenance contract(s) and IWOCS/CWOR Maintenance contract(s) which are typically Tactical Medium Risk Multi-Mode Contracts. Be able to fulfil role with utmost regards for HSSE and Ethics & Compliance whilst adhering to PETRONAS Procedures and Guidelines for Upstream Activities (PPGUA) and PETRONAS Tenders and Contractors Administrative Manual (PTCAM) requirements. Fulfil Contract Holdership role(s) strictly according to Shell\xe2\x80\x99s Contract Management and Contracting Practice (CMCP) processes and Shell\xe2\x80\x99s General Business Principles.
  • Is Technical Authority Level 3 ready or be able to work towards a minimum of Technical Authority Level 3 for Shell\xe2\x80\x99s Subsea discipline.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Aerospace, or equivalent) with minimum of 10 years relevant working experience within the Subsea discipline in the E&P environment with demonstrable experiences in Subsea maintenance in the Operate phase.
  • Understanding and appreciation of ISO 13628-4, ISO 13628-8, API580 and API-17D industry standards.
  • Underwater Services experience with relevant knowledge in deepwater lifting and hoisting, ROV and DP ROVSV selection and assurance, IMCA, Shell and DNV underwater standards and requirements, would be a plus.
  • Experienced in simultaneous operations involving production, drilling/well maintenance and construction.
  • Knowledge of concepts and systems for deepwater developments, together with a familiarity of the challenges of deepwater environments.
  • Familiarity with subsea equipment vendors and industry options to be able to propose safe, reliable and competitive solutions for SMEP.
  • Experience as Contract Holder or equivalent. Knowledge in navigating Shell\xe2\x80\x99s CMCP, PETRONAS\xe2\x80\x99 PTCAM/PPGUA is preferred.
  • Strive for a strong performance and continuous improvement ethics; focused on the delivery of outcomes to secure competitiveness and value creation for Shell.
  • An effective integrator and fluent communicator, able to manage operational uncertainties, including multiple interfaces, and cross-functional inputs to deliver tasks safely and flawlessly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience influencing contractors.
  • Strong teamwork skills with experience in working with engineers and multi-discipline teams.
