About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive

Data Center Plant Operator

to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our critical data center facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the continuous performance of electrical, mechanical, and infrastructure systems, while leading a team of technical staff and vendors to maintain operational excellence, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance Management

Provide continuous monitoring and management of data center facility systems. Coordinate and oversee Preventive and Reactive maintenance for HV/LV infrastructure. Manage vendor performance, track work orders, validate invoices, and ensure timely completion of tasks. Develop and maintain recurring maintenance schedules for contractors.

Team & Vendor Leadership

Supervise multi-skilled engineering technicians and vendor teams. Ensure all staff and vendors adhere to client and company policies, safety standards, and procedures. Assist the Engineering Manager in task assignment and resource coordination.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Ensure a safe working environment and full compliance with HSE standards. Conduct Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) and coordinate with HSE teams on safety procedures. Monitor contractor safety inductions and permit-to-work (PTW) processes.

Reporting & Compliance

Generate weekly reports on facility performance and incident analysis. Maintain and update facility documentation, including floor plans using AutoCAD. Ensure all operations comply with statutory, contractual, and company standards.

Project & Administrative Support

Support minor project activities and facility upgrades. Assist in sourcing materials and coordinating with procurement. Update location service matrices and train vendors on CMMS and other software platforms.

Requirements:

Education & Certification

Diploma in Engineering or related field. A4 Chargeman Certification from Suruhanjaya Tenaga (required). Registered Electrical Worker (REW) or equivalent.

Experience

3-4 years of experience in engineering, construction, or facilities management. 1-2 years of experience in a

Tier III or equivalent data center or critical facility

. Proven experience in HV/LV electrical systems and mechanical services. Background in continuous improvement initiatives and operational reporting.

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and team coordination abilities. Proficient in AutoCAD for space planning and layout updates. Familiar with CMMS software and facility management tools. Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages a plus.
