The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for development, improvement, and validation of existing manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and fixtures, addresses daily technical issues and challenges in production and operations, implements and supports/utilizes effective manufacturing methodologies, such as Lean/Six Sigma, DFM, SPC, FMEA etc., always follows local and international regulatory standards (e.g. GMP and ISO 13485).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilize in-line & offline software to generate programs for all related SMT equipment.
Create reflow profiles to ensure integrity of solder joints within internal quality guidelines and IPC-A-610 standards.
Analyze yield of SMT processes to ensure process capabilities and throughput.
Analyze SMT defects to determine likely failure modes.

Disposition Non-conforming materials, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions
Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling
Perform process validations as required, IQ/OQ/PQ, generate protocols and test reports
Design, document, verify/validate, and implement assembly fixtures
Create user-friendly, pictorial based manufacturing procedures, keep the user in mind when creating MAP's
Support training of manufacturing operators
Technically support production, quality and planning departments through effective communication
Lead/support product transfers and provide / drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
Develop, implement, and support Lean processes in production and throughout operations
Lead/support continuous improvement projects and initiatives
Determine root cause of confirmed customer field failures and implement affective corrective actions
Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEA).
Lead/support supplier qualifications and assist in new supplier selection process
Continuously research, learn, and recommend best practices for world-class manufacturing
Active participation in Process Improvement and Scrap & Cost Reduction programs.
Improve efficiency through Industrial Engineering related activities; such as line balancing, work station improvements, etc.
Ensure the availability of tooling and equipment spare parts required by the manufacturing process.
Material control related activities, such as Kanban implementation, support the cycle count program, etc.
Support Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) process related activities.
Active participation in production efficiency.
Support and determining product standards that will be used for capability planning (time studies).
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with electronics / electro-mechanical assembly and testing
Experience in modern manufacturing principles and techniques
Working knowledge of statistical techniques (e.g., DOE, FMEA, SPC)
Experience in process automation, verification and validation
Good communication skills and technical writing abilities
Good conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Posses computer skills - CAD software, word processing, and spreadsheets
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electronic/electro-mechanical products in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and experience in GMP regulated environment requirements and preferably ISO-13485.
Working knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, DOE, FMEA and SPC techniques.
Experience with PCBA and/or FPCA assembly processing, equipment programming and SMT technologies.
Able to apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, validate, and implement manufacturing processes and/or test stations.
Knowledge and experience in IPC standards ie. IPC-A-610 Standard.
Experience in process automation, verification and validation
Excellent communication skills and technical writing abilities
Excellent conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent computer skills - CAD software, word processing, and spreadsheets
Ability to be work effectively in cross-functional team
Education:
Bachelors of Science degree in an engineering discipline, i.e., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, etc.
