Purpose of Job The Sustainable Palm Oil Executive at WWF-Malaysia is a pivotal role aimed at supporting the organization\'s objectives in promoting sustainable practices within the palm oil industry. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of strategies that advocate for environmentally responsible and socially equitable palm oil production and trade. The role includes engaging with key stakeholders in the palm oil sector, including producers, consumers, and policymakers, to foster awareness and adoption of sustainable practices. The Executive will work closely with the Sustainable Palm Oil Manager to implement action plans, coordinate projects, and contribute to policy advocacy efforts, ensuring that WWF-Malaysia\'s sustainable palm oil initiatives are effectively communicated and executed. The position requires a commitment to sustainability principles, a keen understanding of the palm oil industry\'s dynamics, and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to achieve tangible conservation outcomes in line with WWF-Malaysia\'s mission and goals. Key Outputs Assist in the coordination and implementation of the Sustainable Palm Oil Strategy of WWF-Malaysia. Support the Sustainable Palm Oil (SPO) Manager in external stakeholder engagements and forums related to sustainable palm oil. Execute specific tasks and responsibilities within the Procter & Gamble (P&G) sustainability project. Carry out designated roles and activities within the Asia Sustainable Palm Oil Links (ASPOL) project. Contribute to the creation and refinement of technical reports, analyses, and documentation for the P&G Project. Regularly provide updates and progress reports for the P&G Project on a quarterly basis. Assist in the ongoing development, fine-tuning, and contextual adaptation of WWF-Malaysia\'s Sustainable Palm Oil Strategy. Engage and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable palm oil practices and awareness. Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainable palm oil initiatives and suggest improvements. Participate in research and data collection to inform policy and strategy development in the area of sustainable palm oil. Major Activities Aid the Sustainable Palm Oil (SPO) Manager in formulating and implementing the sustainable palm oil strategy as part of the FY21-25 Sustainable Markets Programme (SMP) strategy, and in planning future strategies. This includes contributions to communication, corporate engagement, policy, and financial outreach within the SMP framework. Manage day-to-day administrative tasks and correspondence related to these activities. Promptly address inquiries and respond to situations pertaining to the SMP, especially in regards to sustainable palm oil. Actively align SMP\'s sustainable palm oil efforts with contemporary sustainable palm oil challenges and initiatives by the Malaysian government. Assist in the sustainable palm oil initiatives under the Living Landscape Approaches as required. Collaborate in fundraising activities for various elements of the sustainable palm oil strategy, leveraging networks, corporate entities (in partnership with the Marketing Team of the Corporate Relations Unit), and government or aid agencies (like IFC, USAID, Embassies, etc.). Oversee sustainable palm oil-related content on the SMP section of WWF-Malaysia\'s website. Handle communication tasks including press releases, article submissions to WWF-Malaysia\'s magazine, external media sources, and input into campaigns or major communication initiatives as needed. Support in forming partnerships with key stakeholders, and facilitate mechanisms to lobby governments and engage companies to enhance the production and consumption of sustainable palm oil in Malaysia. Provide assistance to other WWF-Malaysia programmes on sustainable palm oil matters and contribute to the global palm oil team when necessary. Engage in NGO and government forums (meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc.) to promote WWF-Malaysia\'s sustainable palm oil initiatives. Assist in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for partnerships and fundraising to support WWF-Malaysia\'s objectives. Specifications: Possess a university degree in fields related to Sustainability, Conservation, Agriculture, or Environmental Studies. Demonstrated high-level knowledge of sustainable palm oil practices, certification processes, and sustainability principles. 2 - 3 years of experience in managing project activities, preferably in sustainability or environmental conservation. Prior experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders will be highly regarded. Proven experience in delivering projects or programs, including planning, organizing, and managing work plans. Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial. Exceptional interpersonal skills, creative and innovative thinking, and the ability to work effectively both in a team and independently. A pleasant personality, hardworking ethic, team-oriented attitude, and a deep commitment to conservation. Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate ideas and policies with diverse audiences, including communities, corporate entities, and individual groups. Computer literacy and adeptness in using technology for presentations to partners, stakeholders, and donors. Willingness to travel to remote locations for short durations and possession of a valid driving license. Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and demonstrate respect for diverse cultural perspectives. Eagerness to stay updated with the latest developments in sustainability and conservation, especially concerning the palm oil industry. Salary Range RM3,000 - RM3,600 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
