The Role Responsibilities

Job Purpose

  • Provide support on
  • all intellectual property and branding issues and projects
  • sponsorship and donation arrangements
  • commercial supplier contracts.
  • Responsible for the day to day administration of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s intellectual property portfolios (registered trade marks, granted patents and copyrights). Responsible for working with external counsel on IP matters globally.
  • Partner and collaborate with stakeholders at both Group and Country in various Business Units and Functions (including Legal, Corporate Affairs Brand and Marketing, and SC Ventures) to ensure transactions and initiatives have the necessary legal clearance.
Key Responsibilities

Day to day administration of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s global intellectual property portfolios including:
  • Conducting preliminary inhouse trade mark and patent searches.
  • Co-ordinating multi-country trade mark and patent searches.
  • Working with IP and Brand lawyers on the filing of trade mark and patent applications.
  • Docketing of official IP office action deadlines.
  • Monitoring and ensuring the timely renewal of registered IP including collation of evidence of use and ensuring the execution of declaration where required.
  • Maintenance of all requisite country IP office documentation including powers of attorney.
  • Assist in supporting any IP dispute matters including oppositions, revocations and court related disputes, and complaints filed with regulators and social media organisation.
  • Working with external counsel in relation to the above where such matter has been briefed out.
Responsible for
  • The internal maintenance of IP and Brand team records including
  • Group\xe2\x80\x99s internal policy in relation to trade marks.
  • Collating evidence of use for all of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Masterbrands and other strategically important trade marks.
  • IP documents including settlement agreements and licences.
  • Leading on all financial administration matters related to global external counsel spend, tracking and reconciliation of external counsel fee quotes with invoices rendered for specific matters.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Prefer Diploma and above; prior work experience in office environment or administrative role in a legal environment will be a plus.
  • Prefer a candidate with extensive experience with intellectual property matters whether in private practice or within an inhouse IP team.
  • Any IP certification including IP administration or IP paralegal qualifications would be a bonus.

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to identify, understand and review processes impacting our client documentation architecture and / or initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate and work dynamically across group, region, country, business and product stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to appreciate the importance of how digitisation and technology impacts our documentation systems and framework.
  • Self-initiated and independent worker.
  • Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
Technical Proficiency
  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and willingness to learn and use new template management applications.
Role Specific technical Competencies
  • Good knowledge and understanding of technology and commercial contract requirements including intellectual property and data protection. Experience of outsourcing is preferred but not essential.
  • Good knowledge in current technology and innovation trends as well experience in traditional technology procurement topics such as IP, Cloud, e-commerce, data privacy, information security.
  • Experience in the banking industry (whether through in-house or private practice) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in leading, structuring, and executing a wide variety of technology and innovation transactions with a strong emphasis on internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders.
