As part of the SS Operations target operating model, HSBC have created a Shared Service for Operations processing in the Global Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Manila, Philippines. The SSO supports multiple products and legal entities and the aim is to provide end to end processing within the SSO. The SSO is organised geographically and by product which mirrors the structure of HSS. In addition there are other support functions including People Development, Business Risk Control and Training

The Opportunity:

The role will be located in either location and will report at an entity level to the Head of Custody Services GSC, the role holder will provide leadership and operations management expertise to the Client Services operations for Global and Direct Custody in either location. In addition the role holder will be required to be part of the Management Committee for Securities Services KL and Manila.

What you'll do:

• Lead and manage a team of 90+ across Manila and Kuala Lumpur focusing on Client Servicing and Business Implementation for custody operations.
• Cultivate a Client Centric culture within the immediate team and positively influence the same across the wider Service Delivery functions in both locations (circa 1,300 employees)
• Ability to navigate through a matrixed organisation and network of Business Partners, Account Managers and other Departments within HSBC or external parties to provide timely responses and solutions to Clients.
• Review and optimise existing functions, structures and supporting metrics to ensure facilitation of best of breed client service and differentiation of strategic client value
• Actively and continuously identify opportunities for improving response and resolution rates through reengineering.
• Identify, implement and drive process reengineering and change initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce operational risks and reduce errors.
• As one of the key relationship contact with business partners and product teams in Custody franchise
• Work closely and actively with all Account Managers, Sales and Business Development and Client Management functions to ensure smooth transition to the business by also prioritising strong Client Relationship management.
• Coordinate transition involving Assets moving into and out of HSBC through appropriate monitoring to ensure smooth transition without impact to the business.
• Identify, implement and drive process reengineering and change initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce operational risks and reduce errors.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

• Extensive experience in Securities Services with a focus on Custody operations
• Inherent ability to stay focused on Client Servicing and ability to build and deepen relationships with partner and stakeholders, especially account Management team will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of risk and risk management in corporate action
• Ability to work independently but also a team player with proven leadership and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff
• Analytical to enhance procedures and controls
• Strong interpersonal skill
• Problem solving skills and ability to drive process improvements
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willing to change and be proactive to drive change
