Job Scope:

• On a functional basis, the scope of the role covers operational risks undertaken by entities under CIMB Malaysia as agreed by the Board Risk Committee.
• The person is to work with other Group Risk COE, such as Credit Risk, RAI, Market Risk, Asset/Liability Management etc. to develop an enterprise view of CIMB Group's operational risk management.
• On a regulatory perspective:

For Malaysian regulators: the person is responsible to play a primary role to liaison with other relevant CIMB parties (i.e. Group Legal & Compliance, business etc.) to address all concerns and requirements of Malaysian regulators with respect to operational risks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure operational risk is within the Risk Appetite of the Group.
• Support the implementation a best in class operational risk management and control environment across the Group guided by consistent and effective Group policy and procedures.
• Oversee and provide constructive challenge to the first line of defence in managing the operational risk of the Group.
• Keep constantly abreast of market and regulatory developments which impact the Group's operational risk.
• Provide clear and considered guidance to the Business Units, to ensure any revision to operating practices or processes pertaining to operational risk is appropriately agreed by all stakeholders and communicated effectively.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business management, business support heads, Designated Compliance and Operational Risk Officers and other areas of risk management both domestically and regionally. Ensure relationships are strategically forward looking, highly collaborative and productive.
• Introduce, promote and constantly evolve a culture which adopts the best practices for operational risk management in the region with the highest standards of quality and integrity.
• Be proactive and supportive of regional risk projects.

Job Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Economics / Commerce/ any related field of study from a reputable University
• Preference for professional or post graduate qualifications e.g. Chartered Accountant, CFA, GARP, MBA
• Minimum 10 years work experience of similar capacity with relevant first line experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Collaborative partner - ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely at all levels (internally and externally)
• An understanding of risk drivers and operational risk tools
• Experience in Operational Risk Management or business functions and background (added advantage)
• Ability to understand strategic direction an influence outcome at working level
• Good presentational skills
