Industry: Engineering Location: George Town, Penang Position : Category Buyer (Supporting Europe team) Headcount: 1 Tenure: Permanent (Mon-Fri) 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Remuneration: Attractive package up to 5 figures! ( subject to experiences) Overview Individual contributor role- handling indirect materials Reporting to Europe based manager & supporting Europe team, contactable hours after working hour till 9pm Business travel may be required occasionally Responsible for the coordination, optimization, and implementation of the entire purchasing process for Europe, both in the daily operation and in the use of systems. You will also be responsible for the composition and distribution of purchasing reports both timely and complete. As a Buyer you are part of a commodity team where the entire team is responsible for achieving the objectives within the commodity In consultation with the Category Cluster Leader, you determine, based on supplier Quality, Logistics, Technology and Cost (QLTC) performance, where which purchase volumes will be placed. Ensuring proper coordination with internal customers about desired results and making clear agreements about tasks and responsibilities. Participate in projects (NPI, Prototyping) as purchasing representative and contribute to the timely delivery of the project in accordance with the project objectives. Tracking supplier performance in accordance with contractual objectives. Timely escalation to the Category Cluster Leader in case of deviations in supplier performance. Build and maintain long-term relationships with strategic/preferred suppliers, negotiate with and establish back-to-back supply/logistics agreement, and mitigate incumbent supplier contractual risks. Hands-on support of the Junior Buyer if necessary. Optimal use and design of the purchasing functionality of the system Responsible for implementation of appropriate stock strategies within the commodity including parameter management within the system. Periodic reporting of stock positions in the commodity. Determining corrective actions in consultation with the Category Cluster Leader if stocks do not develop in accordance with target. Job Requirements At least 5 years of experience as a buyer in a technical production environment. Experience with MRP systems and project planning (MS-Project). Extensive command of Excel / MS Access.
