• Collaborating closely with the matrix and line manager, as well as other relevant managers and peers, to establish and review HSE plans, including budgeting, training, and strategic programs. Responsible for maintaining and updating HSE data and records, and preparing and updating the monthly report on assignments and duties.
• Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Project HSSE Management System and program at the workplace in compliance with the standards, legal and company requirements.
• Assist the Secretary (SHO) and members of the (EOSH) Environment, Occupational Safety and Health Committee at the workplace.
• Perform HSE inspection and audit of the workplace, identifying potential hazards and providing recommendations for corrective action. Prepare and submit the HSE inspection and audit report and follow up until completion of the implementation of corrective action arising from the HSE inspection and audit report.
• Investigate any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning, or occupational disease which has happened in the place of work, identify the root cause(s), prepare an investigation report and recommend control measures; and monitor the notification and submission of reports to relevant authority. To follow up until completion of the implementation of recommended control measures and corrective action arising from the accident investigation report.
• Conduct a thorough analysis of workplace HSE performance, accident statistics, and trends, and in close consultation with relevant line managers to develop, review, and enhance HSE Plan, procedures, and guidelines. This includes ensuring compliance with contractual HSSE requirements.
• Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HSE training programs at the workplace in ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and contractual HSSE requirements.
• Liaise with officers from the Department of Environment and other relevant government agencies as and when required.
• Provide guidance and support to peers on HSE related matters
• Perform any assignments and duties as directed by Matrix or Line manager.

THINKING ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES (PROBLEM-SOLVING):

• Perform all tasks in line with the HSE Management System and other Management Systems.
• The challenges in keeping abreast with all current Occupational Safety and Health legislations, technical and safety standards, and involvement in new technical or engineering developments in the power industry.
• Able to work closely with all Matrix/Line Managers, staff, and contractors to gain trust and respect to ensure strong cooperation towards compliance with legal requirements, implementation of OSH programs, and FACT findings during accident investigations.
• Act swiftly and accurately in conducting accident investigations; willingness to travel on short notice; work round the clock to produce credible findings and reports.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE (KNOW-HOW):

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent with at least 8 years of working experience.
• Certified Safety & Health Officer by the Department of Occupational Safety & Health, Malaysia is an advantage.
