Job Summary

The Cook / Commis is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in the factory cafeteria. The role ensures food quality, hygiene, safety, and timely service in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in daily food preparation, cooking, and portioning of meals according to menu and standard recipes. Support the Head Chef in preparing breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner for factory employees. Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner to meet operational schedules. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas at all times. Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (e.g. HACCP, Ministry of Health requirements). Assist in receiving, storing, and checking of food supplies to ensure freshness and quality. Minimize food wastage and follow proper stock rotation (FIFO). Comply with company policies, SOPs, and safety regulations. Assist in cleaning duties including dishwashing and end-of-day kitchen cleanup. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements

Minimum basic education (SPM or equivalent preferred). Prior experience in a cafeteria, catering service, factory canteen, or similar food service environment is an advantage. Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations. Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices. Able to work in shifts, including early mornings if required. Physically fit and able to stand for long hours. Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
