JOB SPECIFICATION Position: Mid-level DBA / DevOps Reporting to: IT Technical Lead Region Focal Point: Assistant Systems Integration Manager Direct Reports: None Must Have Experience: ???? Oracle DBA ???? Linux Administrator ???? DevOps ???? AWS / Python / Ansible / Terraform Overview: Application Development Team is an integral part of Diamond Key International; team provides services and strategic inputs to the various aspects of the business in all the regions. Key services provided by the group include: Omega TAS application new features design, planning and development, continuous enhancements Growth of software services, including but not limited to solutions enabling digital transformation Design and development of new applications Technical assistance for formulating techniques to transform DKI products to adopt new architectures such as cloud based architecture Internal and external consulting on DKI applications Support and implement the methodology and processes which are highly collaborative, iterative and all focused on delivering quality solutions on time on budget and according to the specifications. Implementation of DKI software solutions Unit testing and system configuration Software release management Applications integrity assurance (eg vulnerability testing and safeguarding; penetration prevention) Key Responsibility Areas - DBA ????As required according to the commercial and operational requirements of the business, perform the installation and upgrading of Linux operating systems (RHEL) and databases(Oracle 19g) ????Perform database patching, including with the capability to carry out this work using best-in-industry methods and technology (eg automated patching) ????Support applications database release management by maintaining application database scripts and working withdevelopers to develop new functionalities intrinsic to each release ????As a critical success factor in commercialising DKI\'s IT services portfolio (including for example IaaS, DBaaS), configure and manage cloud-based databases to industry leading standard. ????Also consistent with DKI\'s IT Services portfolio, configure and maintain data replication, for both DKI cloud-based and on-premises solutions, while also ensuring full integrity of each replication with appropriate timeliness. Subsequently, maintain data consolidation on the basis of data that has been replicated. ????Continually understand the database costs associated with each commercialised DKI IT application and: monitor the impact on database costs of each development / enhancement of a given database; make recommendations for optimising these costs in DKI\'s commercial interests. ????Manage database configuration; including but not necessarily limited to regularly and routinely assessing the potential for database growth; ensuring that the database is placed on the correct server so that it is available to the correct people and ensuring that the correct type of storage is used for the information collected through the database ????Regularly and routinely assess security of all DKI IT databases and make recommendations to management for enhanced security where this will be consistent with DKI\'s IT governance/operational objectives and commercial objectives ???? Manage database optimisation, availability and back-up by monitoring and tuning: using analytical reporting and other tools to ensure that the database is running to optimal levels and understanding the table structure within the database in order to \'tune\' the database. ????Integrating with the DKI-CCC, respond to applications troubleshooting requirements - with resolution that achieves SLA standard or better. Key Responsibility Areas - DevOps ????Assisting and supporting the core Application Development team in managing, testing and deploying cloud based applications, primarily with AWS ????Ensuring our team delivers a secure, reliable environment for excellent customer satisfaction ???? Assisting IT Technical Lead with developing and maintaining tools such as Ansible and Terraform for development and production teams ????Ensure that development and deployment environments are standardised and maintained to the level set by the IT Technical Lead ???? Ensuring all code written or modified is always checked into the appropriate code repository ????Furthering the teams CI/CD journey and helping automate builds and installs. ????Putting security #1 bringing a security first mindset to Diamond Keys suite of products Key Competencies: The following DBA competencies are required to carry out the work: Experienced (Jr - Mid-level) or certificate / ability to get certificate in Oracle 12g and later Good understanding of Red Hat Linux OS, V6 - V9 Understanding of Oracle new versions V19 and 21. Basic knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL is desired, should be able to demonstrate skills in Views and stored procedures Ability to use (or learn) Symmetric DS or another Data Replication tool Monitoring and performance tuning (OEM, AWR) Ability to install and maintain Oracle Application Basic understanding of Networks particular focus on VPNs and Cloud based providers VPNs Performance analysis and tuning, Oracle tool TOAD Managing database structures (PFILE/SPFILE, tablespaces, control files, redo logs, archive, hot-backups and logs) Managing Oracle Net Services and TNS listeners Backup, restore, using oracle built in hot-backup. Import/export (Data Pump) Patching (OPatch) The following DevOps competencies are required to carry out the work: Linux O/S, scripting and performance tools such as Shell scripting, Python and Oracle alerts Good knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically EC2, Oracle RDS, IAM Knowledge of IaC tool Terraform Some knowledge of configuration management tool Ansible Knowledge of Atlassian tools such as Confluence, Jira and BitBucket CI/CD understanding Some experience with Docker Good understanding of Git, including committing, diffs, branching and checking out code Some understanding of writing code in Python VSCode General Skills: ???? Ability to support the other regions\' teams with development and troubleshooting ???? Strong customer need management skills ???? Strong analytical and problem solving skills ???? Ability to organise and conduct walkthroughs for the software solutions for internal and external customers. ???? Ability to prioritize workload effectively. ????An effective team player with the ability to manage personal wellbeing, for example - planning and driving all activities towards zero injury or lost time incident. ????Attention to detail. ????Appreciation of role that risk management systems (eg quality management, HSSE management) play in i) containing business risk and ii) underpinning DKI\'s value in terms of market and customer perceptions and expectations ???? Copes well under pressure and with uncertainty ???? Flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities. Other requirements First 3 months this will be full time in the office. Possible flexible working hours after this.
