What is the opportunity?

Investor & Treasury Services Malaysia is a processing center of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographic time zones. The country employs a global operating model to maximise efficiencies across time zones and supports a 24/5 operations.

In this role, the team is embedded in RBC I&TS 1st Line of Defense, reporting to the Chief Operational Risk Officer (CORO). This team is a global function responsible for Operational Control work with 1st Line Risk Owners in identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of operation Risk. Further, challenge the 1st line risk and control owners on their understanding of their risk profile and the status and adequacy of the controls in place to manage and mitigate the risk activities. This is achieved by executing, managing & adapting practices relating to risk activities.

Working hours: 9:00AM \xe2\x80\x93 6:00PM (flexibility required)

What will you do?

Deliver risk practices in alignment with enterprise level standards. (e.g. Operational Risk Events \xe2\x80\x93 root cause analysis, RCSA, KRIs, Risk Reporting, Proactive Risk Management).

Implement, develop and enhance risk practices that support the articulation to management and monitoring of I&TS\'s Operational Risk Profile & Appetite.

To provide expert operational risk and control advice to senior business leaders in the region

Determine and report an independent opinion on the Operational Risk Profile for the entities, and ensure timely escalation of issues and actions (e.g. large events, KRI & appetite breaches, business environment changes and conduct matters etc.).

Consult and challenge the business on their understanding of their risk and the status & adequacy of the controls, and provide Risk Governance, advisory and oversight of the Top Risks for I&TS in the region.

Work closely with Transformational Change Teams within region to support process enhancements, end to end risk assessment reviews, highlight key controls through design effectiveness and move to production through the Operational Readiness Checklist.

Escalate to the Managing Director of BUOR&R of any material risk issues, regional business resiliency or escalating risk profile/themes as appropriate.

Provide local, regional and global reporting requirements, into Operating Committees and Risk Committees.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree (in Accounting, Finance, or other Business related field).

Preferably 8-10 years relevant industry working experiences and 6-8 years relevant operations or risk working experiences.

Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate results and recommendations to senior management in a concise manner.

Ability to assess, challenge and recommend appropriate action to 1st Line.

Demonstrate senior stakeholder engagement, reporting and collaboration.

Nice-to-have

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task.

Highly self-motivated with strong sense of initiative as well as well-developed analytical skills.

Dealing with Ambiguity \xe2\x80\x93 Take effective action with limited information: ready, willing and able to easily switch gears in response to unexpected events and circumstances. Provides as much focus as possible for self and others in dynamic situations.
