Job Description


Job Purpose:
The Director of Student Accommodation is responsible for the comprehensive management and strategic direction of student residential services, including both on-campus and off-campus accommodations. This role provides strategic support to the Senior Vice President (SVP) and leadership to the organization HODs .The role ensures that all aspects of residential life, from operations to student wellbeing and development, are aligned with the institution's mission, values, and strategic goals. This includes fostering a supportive and enriching living environment that enhances student success and satisfaction.KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and implement strategic plans for student accommodation that align with the broader goals of the institution.
o Provide leadership and direction to all staff within the Student Accommodation department, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Operational Management:
o Oversee daily operations of all student accommodation facilities, ensuring efficient, safe, and quality services.
o Implement and refine operational, managerial, and administrative procedures to optimize service delivery and operational efficiency.
o Ensure that all accommodation facilities comply with relevant health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Financial Oversight:
o Manage the budget for the Student Accommodation department, ensuring financial objectives are met.
o Monitor and control expenditures, and ensure profitability by achieving budgeted occupancy rates, revenue growth, and P&L targets.
  • Student Wellbeing and Development:
o Develop and oversee programs that support student wellbeing, personal growth, and academic success.
o Foster a holistic living environment that encourages students to gain life skills and community engagement, contributing to their overall development.
  • Service Excellence:
o Ensure high levels of student and parent satisfaction through continuous improvement of services.
o Implement feedback mechanisms to assess and enhance the student experience.
o Promote a culture of service excellence among staff.
  • Community Building:
o Lead initiatives that build a vibrant residential community, promoting inclusivity, engagement, and a sense of belonging among residents.
o Support and expand Service Learning and community engagement programs within the residences.
  • Reporting and Compliance:
o Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on key performance indicators, including occupancy rates, student satisfaction, and financial performance.
o Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and external regulations related to student accommodation.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
o Stay abreast of trends and innovations in student accommodation services.
o Introduce new initiatives and best practices to enhance the residential experience and operational efficiency.KEY COMPETENCIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Student Affairs, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in student accommodation, residential life, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&L.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and lead teams to achieve goals.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging residential environment for students.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet the needs of the residential community.
  • On-call availability for emergency situations is required.
