The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience working in a B2B buying role within a retail environment, with a focus on fruit and vegetable procurement. Excellent time-management and organisational skills, coupled with the ability to proactively manage a wide range of responsibilities throughout the development process. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A passion for working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, coupled with plenty of initiative. Strong commercial acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a customer-focused approach. A keen eye for detail and a genuine passion for product quality. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Category Manager to support the development of the end-to-end procurement process for the Supermarket Vegetable category team. Work hand in hand with the B2B sales and marketing teams at to create proposals to secure sales with end customers (eg supermarkets) Assist with planning, negotiation preparation, and contract renewal for the Fruit and Vegetable category. Play a pivotal role in scheduling and nurturing supplier relationships. Contribute to our overarching Foodbuy strategy by driving volume growth and negotiating sustainable terms. Work closely with the Supermarket Vegetable Category team to execute a long-term food vision, focusing on cost, quality, service, and innovation improvements. Identify potential new suppliers, visit existing suppliers, and build strong supplier relationships. Qualifications: Previous experience in a similar role with a deep understanding of food production, particularly within the fruit and vegetable sector. Strong commercial understanding with a track record of enhancing supplier and yield performance. Knowledgable on the fresh vegetable buying process and is able to support B2B sales and marketing teams to answer any client questions and create a compelling commercial story Proven ability to build and maintain a network of internal and external contacts and influence effectively. Adaptability to work in a complex and fast-paced environment. Proficiency in using data to drive intelligent decision-making and influence future seasons.
