We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper / Steward to join our culinary team at VCR. In this role, you will assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, supporting food preparation activities, and ensuring a sanitary environment. The Kitchen Helper / Steward plays a vital role in helping our kitchen operate efficiently and uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients under the direction of the chefs and cooks.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas according to health and safety standards.
Ensure proper disposal of kitchen waste and recycling materials.
Stock and maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
Operate dishwashing equipment and hand wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and surfaces throughout the shift.
Empty and clean trash containers regularly.
Support kitchen staff during meal service by transporting and storing food deliveries.
Assist in plating and garnishing dishes as directed.
Help maintain a smooth flow of operations in the kitchen by fulfilling tasks promptly and efficiently.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning products and chemicals.
Report any maintenance or repair issues to the kitchen supervisor or manager promptly.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper or in a similar role preferred, but not required.
Food handler's card or willingness to obtain one.
SPM or equivalent preferred.
Skill and Knowledge:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
