Professional, Full Time (Contract)

Location: Miri, Sarawak\xef\xbb\xbf

The Laboratory Technician is responsibe for assisting the Technical/Senior Technical Officer in managing the laboratories and preparing equipment, consumable and chemicals required for experiments; maintenance and efficient handling of laboratory equipment; stocktaking and ordering of equipment as required within specified timeframe; supervise the work of; and enforce safety requirement to staff and students at all times.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Prepare equipment, consumable and chemicals required for experiments.
  • Maintain, repair, calibrate and clean laboratory equipment according to maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping in laboratories.
  • Order and maintain laboratory stock and resources.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students at all times.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation systems.
  • Dispose laboratory waste including solid waste and hazardous waste in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Ensure students adhere to Laboratory Rules and Regulations.
  • Assist Technical/Senior Technical Officer to prepare for internal or external assessment.
\xef\xbb\xbfSelection Criteria:
  • A diploma in a discipline related to Chemistry, Petrochemical/Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant work experience. However, fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of chemical, hazardous waster, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental health standards.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Selef motivated, able to work independently in some activities and as part of a team.
  • Detailed oriented, able to prioritise work schedule and complete assigned task within given timelines.
