About the Job
Founded in 1988 and listed on Bursa Malaysia since 2005, our client is a Malaysian-based integrated logistics company offering sea, air, and land freight, warehousing, customs brokerage, and e-fulfilment services. With operations across Malaysia and in over 10 countries including Singapore, India, and Australia, the company manages more than 1.3 million sq ft of warehouse space and is expanding further, notably with a new Port Klang facility due in 2025.
We're seeking for Legal Advisor - Assistant Manager level to independently manage and advise on all legal and contract-related matters for our client and its subsidiaries in Malaysia, ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies, minimizing legal risks, and safeguarding the company's interests.
Job Responsibilities
1. Contract Management

• Draft, review, and finalize service agreements, vendor contracts, client agreements, NDAs, and terms of business.
• Ensure all contracts are legally sound and aligned with corporate and operational requirements.
• Maintain an organized contract register and proper document control for all agreements.

2. Legal Advisory

• Provide timely legal advice and interpretation on contractual terms, obligations, and potential risks.
• Support management and operational teams (including freight and branch operations) in legal and compliance matters.
• Identify legal exposures and propose appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

3. Coordination & Liaison

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to facilitate contract and compliance processes.
• Liaise with external lawyers for specialized advice, dispute resolution, or negotiations.

4. Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure contracts comply with Malaysian laws and relevant corporate governance standards.
• Keep management updated on significant legal developments, risks, and compliance issues.
• Prepare regular reports on contract renewals, expirations, and risk areas.

Qualifications & Experiences Needed

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
• Admission to the Malaysian Bar preferred; experienced in-house counsel without Bar qualification will also be considered.
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in contract drafting and advisory work, preferably in logistics or service-related industries.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian contract and commercial law.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
