Job Detail Job Reference P7648 Direct Search Global is working with an international maritime company to fill a role of Manager, Legal to be based in their Malaysia office. Job Purpose: Supervise all legal services safeguard the Company\'s interest against diminution in financial value, image and reputation while considering commercial and operational considerations. Job Responsibilities: Legal Services Provide legal services to the Company including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, finalizing the Company contracts and legal documents. Main job scopes include, but not limited to the following: Projects Assist in the review and negotiation of main contractual documents and other complex transactions including proposed joint ventures, partnerships, and acquisitions. Draft, review and negotiate other legal documents to place the Company at the most favourable position and protect the Company\'s interests. 2. Procurement Give legal services for procurement exercise to implement the projects (up to USD50 million in contract value, per package), to protect the Company\'s interest. Involve in tender evaluation process, clarification with bidders and propose recommendations to tender committee on the bidders\' contractual deviations. Review and recommend solutions to unfavourable clauses proposed by subcontractors to uphold competitiveness without compromising the Company\'s interest. Review tendering standard templates to be updated with the current business requirements and practices. 3. Operational Matters Manage and oversee the provision of legal advice in all daily operational/post contractual legal issues arising during operational phase of any project. Manage the fact-finding, collation and review of all documents relevant to the operational issues. 4. Litigation Solve disputes or litigations to safeguard the Company\'s best interests. Work closely with external counsels and manage their legal advisory work when they represent the Company locally and abroad. Negotiations Manage strategic and complex transaction negotiation and supervise the negotiating teams in other transactions in order to place the Company at the most favourable position, protect the Company\'s interests and reputation. Other Legal Policies and Procedures Make sure latest legal resources and materials are available and enough to the lawyers in the team so they can discharge legal services effectively. Develop templates of agreement or guidelines to better the efficiency of the Company\'s service. Staff Development Determine the relevant training needs of individual subordinates and give on-the-job training chances. Job Requirements: Minimum 10-12 years of working experience in general / corporate / commercial legal services Experience in maritime and oil & gas industry is a plus. Bachelor of Laws Good interpersonal skills Strong negotiation skills
