One of our core services is the provision of in-country representatives to support our clients at selectively strategic locations in South and Southeast Asia.

We are seeking a professional to join the Acumen team in Kuala Lumpur, toprovide full-time support to one of our higher education clients, Cardiff University, as a Partnerships Development Manager. You will work with our Customer Experience (CX) Senior Manager and the rest of our growing team in Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do as a Partnerships Development Manager, Malaysia

Purpose of the role

We are looking for a senior international education professional to support our client, Cardiff University, to lead on partnership development, to build relationships with stakeholders, identify potential partners, maintain strong relationships with local institutions, and working with our client to support partnership establishment in Malaysia and potentially across the South East Asia region.

We seek an experienced candidate who has strong interpersonal skills to create and nurture new and existing relationships with a variety of stakeholders. A candidate who is self-motivated and comfortable to work independently. Someone with prior experience in a similar partnership management role with an existing network in the education sector. The ability to engage confidently with senior local stakeholders as well as senior international education clients is key.

Main duties

  • Support with the development of TNE opportunities with current partners and new partners. When and if appropriate, explore new TNE partners.
  • Support with the development of transfer / articulation options with current partners and new partners.
  • Scope new opportunities in niche subject areas.
  • Support with the renewal of agreements with existing partners.
  • Support inward visits from the University\'s Senior Management and Faculty, including planning and organisation of strategic meetings.
  • Provide on the ground logistical support for visiting University colleagues including post visit trip reports and actions.
  • Be the prime source of information about partnership development in Malaysia, providing input and support where relevant for market-specific business plans / strategies.
  • Provide regular market intelligence on the Malaysia market and region for partnerships and higher education opportunities and competitor insights including briefings on changes in Government, educational policies etc.
  • Provide robust, reliable two-way communications between client and partners to develop relationships that are resilient, capitalise on partner / market-specific trends and problem-solve effectively to overcome any related challenges.
  • Keep accurate records on the status of all proposals to be accessible in a shared space to other team members.
  • Develop and implement a thorough reporting framework, ensuring appropriate and time sensitive reporting.
  • Align reporting outputs to client and Acumen systems and process.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the University including Faculty, Alumni and other professional services departments.
  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Head of International Partnerships / International Partnerships Manager.
What you bring to the team
  • Completion of a degree and/or relevant combination of skills and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Global Higher Education sector with a particular understanding of Malaysia and across the South East Asia region.
  • Candidate has experience in the education industry with at least 5 years of working experience preferably in partnership management.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with high attention to detail including the ability to communicate and present effectively to groups, and with a diverse range of people and organisations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise and establish rapport with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, as well as work independently using initiative and judgement.
  • Ability to build successful relationships and networks of contacts.
  • Excellent organisational skills including ability to manage heavy workload, prioritise competing demands and work to deadlines.
  • High level of responsibility and accountability for completing tasks within specified timeframes.
  • Uses own expertise and seeks others\' expertise to achieve goals.
  • A valid passport with the ability to travel.
