About the team

You will be reporting to Payroll Team Lead alongside a team of 5+ that\xe2\x80\x99s focusing on providing support on Payroll matters across APAC.

About the role

The Payroll Specialist works as part of a team that is responsible for the timely and accurate accumulation of payroll data. This will be accomplished by the complete end-to-end processing of the payrolls allocated to the specialist of various countries within Smith & Nephew in the region. Essential responsibilities include data entry and system updates in local payroll systems, executing interfaces between Workday and local payroll where these exist, as well as executing outbound vendor interfaces.

The Payroll Specialist can perform all payroll functions including calculate the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with assistance of a payroll system. The role is not limited to specific country payrolls within the specialist\'s region and assistance with payrolls outside of the specialist\'s usual processing countries will be requested as and when the need arises.

Responsibilities

Entry and review of the monthly payroll time data as required, employee maintenance, tax information, direct deposit, new hire, terminated and current employee processing. This is also including processing end to end payroll.

Coordinate with Human Resource Department personnel on the timely and accurate updating of employee masterfile changes in payroll systems.

Manage interfaces and reports between Workday HR and local payroll systems.

Audit payroll data entry and employee status changes to ensure accuracy prior to payroll execution.

Ensure timely and accurate administration of employee garnishments, ensuring proper withholding and remittance to appropriate agencies.

Work as a member of cross-GBS, cross-functional team on projects related to system upgrades for Workday, local Payroll and Time & Attendance systems.

Execute and audit payroll outbound interfaces to be sent to third party vendors.

Execute tests in Workday and payroll test databases as they relate to outbound/inbound interfaces.

Ensure accurate payroll data is sent to local Finance Teams for ledger posting.

Minimum requirements

Minimum 3 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years of related regional payroll experience at a company processing 500+ employees.

Associate\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Payroll or Business related field, or equivalent payroll department experience would be an advantage.

Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers. Demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail.

Strong skill in MS excel, Word, and the ability to learn additional programs as needed.

Abilities to speak, read and write in Japanese as this role is a Japanese serving market.

Proficient and good knowledge of relevant HR/Payroll software (e.g. Workday).
